And if the parents are abusive and claim that is part of their indoctrination? What if the parents are executed or jailed--Wait...

It seems the Dominion is in favor of this proposal, since if were to be passed, it would restrict the government from either interfering or helping children even in the event of the parents being absent. However, if you allow this exception into the fold, the Dominion will be against the proposal.

Let me get this straight. You would be in favour of the proposal if the government is not allowed to get involved if the parents of said children happen to be absent, either because they're dead or in jail or if they're abusive parents?

And, if these exceptions are in the proposal, you will oppose it? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that there is some pretty messed up logic.

That is quite correct, Ambassador.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that there is some pretty messed up logic.
Is that not what the proposal is suggesting?

In any case, the Central Institution should not be involved in a family whether or not the parents are abusive (and thus, absent). The Dominion recognizes that our stances are eternally disputed. However, it is central to the Dominion that social issues are best left to the people, as are economic issues. The trick is to discourage parents from being abusive ;).

This proposal is illegal for contradicting the UN Educational Aid Act.

There's also the silly thing with the category.

A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

This does nothing of the sort.

Parents are to be granted rights as the sole authority in the development and education of their children, and are to be free from government indoctrination of children.

Even if this proposal was legal (which it isn't), we would be unalterably opposed to the above clause. There are simply too many bad parents for parents alone to be the sole authority in regards to children. In our estimation, a fine balance must be struck between protecting the rights of parents, and protecting the children themselves. This proposal would eviscerate that balance.

While I certainly believe that parents rather than the government should have the priority in the education of their children, I can't agree with my fellow CPR member that their shouldn't be laws banning child abuse that would be enforced by the police. Of course, such laws should presume parental innocence until proven guilty and respect the property rights of the family.

Far more allegations of child abuse in RL are bogus than are true, and they result in terrible trials for the accused family. But there always are bad apples, so such laws should be in place, within limits.

Parenting, far from being a right, is a responsibility to which you obligate yourself when you have a child.

As a representative of my beloved anarcho-socialist federation, I will happily speak in favor of both many negative and positive rights, but this ain't even a right to begin with.
