We congratulate the ambassador of Hirota for drafting such an excellent proposal despite the help of Microsoft Word. Aside from capitalising the words "Human Rights" in the title, we would have no objections at all to supporting this proposal.

OOC: My own fault really, should have put the capitals in when I used the replace function.

Looks good to go, Ambassador Kildarno. May this trickle become a flood.

OOC: Looks a lot like my proposal for a prize for "medical research," only with medical research replaced with "human rights." Good gawd, Hirota, at least come up with something that pretends to be original. :p

Make damn sure that you've got the words in all caps spelled correctly, Word skips them for some damn reason.

Well, if the UN is going to start giving out prizes for everything we might as well jump on the bandwagon. You have the support of Cookesland, Ambassador Kildarno.

This is all a part of my Miervatian plan to promote beer sales ... as more copy-cats are submitted, my 2.5 year old beer proposal will look unique and refreshing!

Alright, I think we get it now. Prizes can be made for other stuff. Y'all are too clever.

I'd offer up my own UN Sluttiness Prize, but there's not much point: Karmicarians would sweep every single year.

Anyone capable of taming Microsoft to such an extent that it will spell "recognising" without that blasted "z" deserves the support of --

Dicey Reilly,

True, but it has to be bullied into it. It's emotionally draining. I want my computer to like me.

*cough* I’ll have you know that Ithanian’s are wonderful at the art of promiscuity and experimentation too. Right this very moment athletes can’t compete in the regional games (http://z3.invisionfree.com/England/index.php?showtopic=2149&st=30) because it’s National Bondage Month.;)

NOTING that not all of the "peoples of the world" are actually 'human',

QUESTIONS whether this proposal could be re-worded so that the prize could reward giving rights to the members of other sapient species too...

You'll thank us later. You may even award us with an extra-shiny UN Prize on the subject.

If I'm here, then quite probably yes.

If I'm here, then quite probably yes.<dismissive wave> I've made an argument for it in the past, we don't need to go through this again do we?

Opposed. It is not the job of the UN to provide awards which do little other then give some person/group bragging rights and a minor incentive to acheive in a certain field, at cost to the UN. This is a body dedicated to global issues and how to address them, not arbitrarily handing out awards. As previously argued, these proposals give precedence of one field over another, and notingt that, we now have this blatant flood of unnecessary proposals.

Opposed, as a matter of principle.
