Description: RECOGNISING the critical nature of advancements in medical science to the improvement of the health and well-being of all peoples of the world,

NOTING the many lives saved around the world based on the results of such research, and

HOPING to promote the field of medical research and to encourage and foster international cooperation in such endeavours,

The United Nations,

ESTABLISHES the United Nations Prize for Medical Research, to be awarded to the person(s) responsible for the greatest contribution(s) to the field of medical research over the course of each year,

CALLS UPON the United Nations Awards Committee (UNAC) to select the winner, based on outstanding achievements in the field of medical research, of this prize each year, and

REQUESTS voluntary donations -- be they from the private sector or from member governments -- to fund a monetary endowment to be bestowed in conjunction with the prize.

Surely, we can't hold economics as more worthy of a prize than medical research?

The nation of Celmara a new U.N member-state supports this U.N resolution from the honourable member of the Cluichstan U.N representative and we only believe that this should be revised to;

Ah, but medical advances are not confined to UN members. They are easily spread to those outside the membership of this august body.

We wish to express our support for this excellent endeavour of the Cluichstani delegation. When we have time (OOC: when I'm not on holiday any more), we hope to be able to draft something of a nature that he will feel able to support also.

We offer our full support to this endeavour; the logical and emotive nature will surely pull on the heartstrings of the same group of delegates who so very willingly passed the Economics Prize.

I see that this proposal has been resubmitted. As a doctor myself I naturally like the idea, and my government has also decided that it is worth mentioning to our current regional delegate.
