You know, it's considered polite to post the text of your proposal here so we don't have to go find it.
Category: Human Rights
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Allehsia
Description: ACKNOWLEDGING that forced prostitution of people of both genders and many different ages occurs throughout the world every day,
KNOWING that forced prostitution is often connected to organized crime,
REALIZING that forced prostitution is a growing problem around the world,
ALSO REALIZING that prostitution is the only way for some people to make a living, and therefore this resolution does not apply to willing and legal sex-workers,
NOTING that Resolution #87 allows for each nation to determine its own stance on prostitution, this resolution declares that:
-Each member nation must take steps to end forced prostitution within their sovereign territory by 2012,
AND
-Each member nation must take steps to stamp out organized crime that often causes forced prostitution by 2017.

Not very well, but yes.

i propose we veto this bill when it comes to the vote. what it basically says is it will be the responsibility of all UN countries to fight crime. making a bill on this is overkill. forced prostitution is a crime and making a bill to force countries to combatthis is like making a bill to make countries to use their fire department to fight fires.
as for the second bit. the organised crime only had occasional links to forced prostitution and the very fact that it is crime would suggest to me that it is behaviour that the country does not allow and therefore the country would be taking its own steps to combate this so it does not require the UN to make the order.
Veto this bill before we help the UN to write the handbook on running every aspect of our counties

I would also like to point out that the year numbers are meaningless. Under the Urocan calendar, for example (which Paradica uses), the current year is 3.

Veto? Who the hell has that power around here? And how do I get it?

Not to bad. Much of the gangmasters of forced prostitution come from our country, and we are cracking down on it. It is paying of, but this could help further.
However, I hope you have asked permission form the original author, and I am not sure if 2017 is a good date. Perhaps 2020?
no one individual has the power to veto but if we combine our effort then we do. damn democracy. i think im busy 2020.
and i think i made my point. individual countries are well able to control their own crime. it doesnt take the UN to tell us our business.
Apparently, there are 3 individuals who each have the power of veto, but they rank incredibly high within the UN Secretariat and won't often deign to dirty their hands with such things. I believe they trust their underlings enough to take care of such matters before they ever reach the voting stage. They are, after all, rather busy individuals with a great deal on their plate.

It's an interesting idea, but a bit too specific in scope. I think banning forced anything would probably be a better idea.
Of course, first you'd have to repeal that teflon coated, repeal-proof, piece of sh*t End Slavery first.
Tell you what, come to me with a good repeal of End Slavery, or good anti-slavery proposal, and I'll help you get it up there. I've tried twice and I want to try again.
....I have issues surrounding End Slavery, it haunts me at night.
