Check this act out. Give it support guys. We need the freedom to let art flow as it wants to, which is freely.
Click here for approval page (http://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_proposal1/match=art)
In short, the description is:
"Recognizing that art (film, print, theatre, drawings)is a strong means of documenting life and history as we know it, and laws should be enacted to prevent these avenues of expression from being supressed for political interests."
Feel free to discuss!

Can't see this finding a way around Artistic Freedom (http://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_past_resolutions/start=137).
because I am nice:
Artistic Expressions Act
A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.
Category: Education and Creativity
Area of Effect: Artistic
Proposed by: Endless Delirium
Description: Recognizing that art (film, print, theatre, drawings)is a strong means of documenting life and history as we know it, and laws should be enacted to prevent these avenues of expression from being supressed for political interests.
A) Artistic Expression, even if it is explicit, demeaning, sexually provocative, politcally undermining, religiously slanted must be protected by law as freedoms of expression.
B) To avoid exploitation, it must be made compulsory for relevant industry leaders to fully document the involvement of any second or third party participants in whatever artistic work that proves that there is no coercion or exploitation.
C) Governments are to be barred from approving or rejecting artistic proposals of any form. Independent and private boards are to be set up to monitor the art industry from the day this bill is passed.
Approvals: 13 (WZ Forums, Ian John Locke II, Austranica, Dragoneon, Irlandi, Deutscher Geist, Ellenburg, Bordoria, Disfigured Union, Aurreich, Errinundera, Derbb, Byrneia)
Status: Lacking Support (requires 99 more approvals)
Voting Ends: Wed Feb 14 2007
I agree with QOD. Other than that it's worthy of further exploration if Artistic freedom was repealled.

With respect to the honoured ambassador from Endless Delerium, this is merely a repeat of the initial post on the subject at greater length. The point made by the Ambassador from the Quintessence of Dust remains to be addressed.
We hope that the honoured ambassador is not treating this discussion as "write only"; such would auger badly for any attempt to draft legislation.

Mmmmm....sarcasm.
A) Artistic Expression, even if it is explicit, demeaning, sexually provocative, politcally undermining, religiously slanted must be protected by law as freedoms of expression.
...Define artistic expression, and find some kind of broad definition or two for all that politically undermining, obscene slanted etc.. stuff.
There is artistic expression, there is pervy-creepy stuff, then there is the stuff people unwillingly get hurt while it's being made. Ban that stuff, child porn and videos of real captive women getting tortured unwillingly. I love freedom of speech more then the next guy, but some concessions have to be made.
B) To avoid exploitation, it must be made compulsory for relevant industry leaders to fully document the involvement of any second or third party participants in whatever artistic work that proves that there is no coercion or exploitation.
Uhhh...what? This clause is unneccessary and poorly defined and really accomplishes nothing. So, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Because I seriously doubt documenting art and second and third parties well preven coercion or exploitation...
By the way--Where are these parties? Do they have boose? Whoose being exploited? Who are these mysterious industry leaders and what are they documenting?
C) Governments are to be barred from approving or rejecting artistic proposals of any form. Independent and private boards are to be set up to monitor the art industry from the day this bill is passed.
Whos setting up what boards? What makes them independant or private? Why can't governments do it? Since when was art and industry? And why does it have to be monitered, and for what?
I seriously hope no one beat me to the punch and posted this in silly/stupid proposals.
This bill is a disgrace. The government is put in place by the people and so represents the views and opinions of the people. If "art" was so distrubing or drew enough attention that the government got involved maybe there is a good need for it.
For example what if I took pictures of a few kids naked or even engaged in some form of sexual activity? Under this bill my government would have no power to do anything about this and it could easily be branded as art, in that it has got a target audience and it does express maybe some form of emotion or some other artistic thing.

Not the worst I've ever seen, but this one was already dead, guys.
