Welcome to the UN.

That being said, I believe that torture is covered under End Barbaric Punishments. (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7029871&postcount=42). Some one can correct me if I misread the resolution.

Take a look at the rules for UN proposals. If you can't look for it stickied at the top of the UN forum, the link is in my sig. You might also what to take a look at the Passed N.S.U.N Resolutions (http://forums3.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357572) sticky that is also at the top of the forum, but because I'm in a good mood and feeling helpful, I have given you the link.

Contradicts Fair Sentencing Act. Nations get to decide how to punish their criminals on their own.

Er...um...FSA protects a nation's right to use torture? http://209.85.48.12/html/emoticons/blink.gif

No, it protects a nation's right to sentence and punish how ever they see fit. I think that's what Kiv was getting at.

Yeah, I just realised he was referring to the "no cruelty is used during punishment" part.

Lio looked over the idea and shrugged. "This is already covered under UNR #27, The Universal Bill of Rights. (http://forums3.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7029642&postcount=27)"

You may have been in the UN for a few months, but you haven't learned how to act properly. Posting a snotty answer to someone who's gone way out of her way to help you isn't exactly the way to win friends and influence people.

I always enjoy reading End Barbaric Punishment's first line.

"It has come to the attention of many nations that there is no torture in the UN."

You joined in December and have but a handful of posts.

OOC: You are a nooblet (see above), but when Karmi said "welcome to the UN," all she meant was "welcome to the UN." Your reaction was the typical noobish sense of insult by what was nothing more than a polite remark -- i.e., "OMGooses! She's calling me a n00b!!!1one" Relax, nooblet. It'll be okay. Here, have a jelly baby.

I would also like to welcome the representative of DuQuadland to the United Nations.

Oh, and yes, torture is banned by resolution #27, article 5.

I have been in this forum for a week and un two monthsThat makes you a political baby in the inferno of the UN. Be here a year or so, make positive, constructive posts, and be willing to learn and you'll lose that mantle soon enough.

Oh, and grow a thicker skin whilst you are at it.

You'll do fine if you follow these snippets :)

I've been on this forum and in the UN for just over a year and I'm still considered n00bish compared to some others here. Get over yourself, friend, nobody here knows you well enough to mean it personally. You haven't been here long enough to matter that much to anyone yet.
