A request

Developing Nations

Dear Nations

Having gone through all UN resolutions on order of the Federal Government, I have found two matters of great importance is not covered by any decision of this great body. It is the following two matters:

1. Free Trade and levelling the playing field between the Developing and Developed World

2. The Cancelling of the Debt of poorer nations

As The Federation of Developing Nations are very new in the hallowed halls of the UN, we do not have the necessary permission to draft a proposal, nor the experience in doing so.

We are hereby requesting any nation who is willing to work with us to draft proposals on these two matters of vital importance to contact us as soon as humanly possible.

I thank you for your time and your consideration

Poorer nations owe us money? Why did our Treasury not inform me of this? Our foreign ministry has been looking to upgrade our mobile phones for months now!

1. Free Trade and levelling the playing field between the Developing and Developed World
There are at least four resolutions on free trade - No Embargoes on Medicine, Global Food Distribution Act, Nuclear Energy Research Act, UN Recycling Commission.
2. The Cancelling of the Debt of poorer nations
That's necessary a bilateral matter. Bear in mind all UN resolutions affect all member nations: therefore it'd be difficult to write a resolution on the subject.

Dear Nations

Having gone through all UN resolutions on order of the Federal Government, I have found two matters of great importance is not covered by any decision of this great body. It is the following two matters:

1. Free Trade and levelling the playing field between the Developing and Developed World

As mentioned by the representative of QoD, there are already a few resolutions that deal with free trade, but I think what you're getting at is a more general levelling of the playing field in all areas of trade. That's a pretty tall order. Not impossible, I guess, but it would definitely be difficult.

2. The Cancelling of the Debt of poorer nations

Something that encouraged the cancelling of debt might be do-able. It would serve as a compassionate sentiment that the UN cares about the developing nations. Were it in any way mandatory about the cancellation, or any of the terms thereof, it would be most vehemently opposed by a great many from both sides of the Sovereignty fence.

I think your best bet might be to bring your ideas to Reclamation (http://s15.invisionfree.com/Reclamation/index.php). There, they will be more than happy to assist in developing your ideas into something that looks like a proposal.

OOC: Developing Nations would, of course, be welcome at Reclamation. But isn't there an off-site specifically devoted to Free Trade? Maybe that would be a place to find some enthusiastic support. Or am I having another senior moment?
