Repeal UN Space Consortium proposal

There is currently a proposal in the works to repeal the UN Space Consortium. I would like to publically appeal for support for this most imporant of proposals.

We must look to our own world and use our resources to improve the lives of our own people before we look to the stars.

Yes the stars are a new frontier with many promising things to offer us. But the resources required for such a program would be far better spent to help our own people.

I am not arguing against space-travel, it is a wonderous scientific endeavor with much to offer us. However it would be wrong of us to ignore the plight of our own people who are starving and suffering.

Then we may turn our eyes skyward knowing we have become better people by aiding our fellow human beings.

I don't think the argument works too well. The UN Space Consortium is The U.N.S.C. shall be incorporated under the charter of the United Nations and entirely funded through the sale of stock to any desiring nation

The word desiring means that it is not forcing nations to contribute funds to this project. Moreover, had it done that then the resolution would have fallen foul of the UN Taxation Ban. From Resolution #50:
No taxing authority shall be created by the passage of this resolution.

Since the resolution does not force nations to contribute to it:
Non-participating nations are free to pursue their own space objectives.

What is the problem with the resolution? I would not consider the proposal to repeal it important because of the fact that giving funds to the UN Space Consortium is voluntary.
