Eradicate World Poverty

Gallantaria

Gallantaria and Kotire brings in this new proposition and ask for support:

"Description: The UN sees with astonishment that even in our days people of this world must starve or live in unhuman conditions.

The aim of every member state should be aiding the re-generation of the poorer nations of the world into economically active and viable partners in world trade, for the benefit of all, as well as to ensure that the starving millions of people of this world will have better access to food, shelter, education and health care, thus having a better quality of life.

To achieve this goal, we propose that a United Nations Distribution Organisation (UNDO) be set up to distribute a UN required 0.07% Gross National Income (GNI) of every UN member nation within the OECD to go towards erradicating develloping world debt and to set up proper access to
health care, education and food."

What is the OECD? Bearing in mind RL references are banned, of course.

The only sure way of eradicating world poverty that Ellelt is aware of is the total and utter destruction of capitalism. Since ideological bans are forbidden in UN legislation any attempt to actually eradicate world poverty would be illegal.

That said however, we do not understand the point of your proposed legislation, hell we don't even know what category it should be put in. And what does the UN need an other committee for?

World poverty is best dealt by individual nations...namely those nations that are impoverished. The UN has no business dictating to anyone what their economic might should be.

Actually, since "poverty" is subjective, the only way to truly eradicate it would be to wipe everyone out.

Or change the meaning of the legal definition of the word in your nation. There is more than one way to wank this Cluich.

You just made my point, and it's not a wank at all. It's reality.

Oh, and please address me properly. I'm Sheik Nadnerb. Cluich is the name of my clan.

Doesn't this violate the UN Taxation Ban if it forces nations to give money to the UN?

No. The UN Taxation Ban prevents the UN from taxing citizens of its members; it can still require funds from the nations in general.

Nope. UN #4 prohibits the UN from "collect[ing] taxes directly from the citizens". It's up to the nation to collect the money and pass it on to the UN via whatever means it finds desireable.

The 0.07% Gross National Income (GNI) bit is technically a Game Mechanics violation, but I'm not going to delete over that. Had it been one of those foolish 7% solutions, that would have been a gross violation. but seven hundredth isn't worth bothering over.
