Matter of International Security

Kanami

Prime Minister Elenore A. Romney The Republic of Kanami

"Ladies and Gentalmen of the United Nations, let me first start out, it seems like yesterday I was in the U.N. as a delegate, as a interanational body of peacekeepers and thoes who desire to do the utmost good in the world, I must bring to your attention the actions of U.N. Member The Untied States of Independent Hitmen, and their allies. As of 2130 hours of November the
27-28th, the U.S.I.H. invaded protected nutural territory under Kanami Jurisdiction, while under the justification that they are preventing a second coup'deat genocide. However, they have also reveald that this is nothing more than a ploy to get us to contiune to negotiating with them. I.H. has an military budget of over 58% of their national budget. The islands of Truce, Aurora, which are being invaded and napalmed as we speak, have no defense budget. They are islands a century behind I.H. Steivd and RedTide2.
I have spoken with my regional delegate Alpha Centauri, although Kanami is not politcally tied with the nation or the U.N. since the turn of the century, we feel it is very important that I bring this matter to you, that you may reconsider the position I.H. has in this body, that you may reconsider the rights of soveringty, and what is constituded as rightful acts of war, and what is considered flat out terrorism and hardarming.

I.H. feels because it does not belong to any international court that it is above the law. It feels it can't be held responsible for the actions it takes, well the ammount of people that will be killed on Aurora and Truce will very much constitute genocide, members of the board. And I don't care what they say, I am not ready and willing to stand by and watch these islands which chose a protection pact with us become the outposts of these dictotoral imperialist nations. I will not let Stevid weild the power to abridge the rights of thoes on the island, I will not let RedTide2 turn it into a sweatshop, I will not let these nations become puppets for them. Truce was months away from statehood, and a free election, that won't happen now that they are being invaded. If you are willing to allow these nations tyranize the region, than go ahead but rember this, there are over 100 million people in these chain of islands, that are all going to fight to the bitter death against a juggernaught that can crush them in one blow. They need you help now. Thank you."

We would no sooner reconsider our stances on terrorism, war, etc., even if some two-bit dictatorships hadn't decided to wage war on some puny little island no one's heard of. If you would like to know what our current policies are on such matters, please consult the list of resolutions*. If you have a specific proposal to put before this body, produce it. Otherwise, the United Nations is powerless to intervene in your case. Take it back to II.

Thank you for stopping by.

* (Specifically, Rights and Duties of Member States, Eon Convention on Genocide, Wolfish Convention on POWs, and UN Counterterrorism Initiative).

No, the UN really does not have more RPing power. It has no RP army, police, etc.

Maybe some nations will help out of the kindness of their hearts, but probably not.

powerless, surley the U.N. has more RPing powerIndividual UN nations have "RPing power," but that is best saved for the appropriate fora (i.e., the place you were before you came here). The United Nations, however, cannot intervene in international conflicts. We are a lawmaking body, not a world police force.

Well, I suppose I could ask my government to start an ortillary strike on the offending nation. Then again, unless you would like them to be reduced to so much glass, you might wish to consider an alternative.

Sadly, the Rep from OMGTKK is quite correct about the rather powerless position the UN is in. Its authority over its members is rather weak, and it has absolutely no authority over non-members. Some member nations might be convinced to help out in a mediating capacity, but that's about the best it can offer.
