Okay, I've tried multiple times to repeal this proposal, and I'm going to try again. So, anyone willing to join me on this epic, "Lord of the Rings" like repeal attempt this is where we get started.
Oh sweet, CCR is playing Ban Moon Rising, god, thats freakishly apt.
(I'm in a wacky mood, my apologies)

Could you please post a copy of the repeal. It helps a lot.

OOC: Bad Moon Rising is a great song.
Auss had a great draft for an Ownership of Persons proposal that you might be able to work into the repeal/replace effort. I'm still willing to help, but only if you'll accept that conscription is neither slavery nor the UN's business.

I accept, conscription is a seperate issue altogether. As for now I don't have a repeal, I was hoping soemone would join me in a collaberative draft, as my solo efforts have failed miserably, although I could dig up my past attempt as a starting point.

That sounds good. Dig out your first draft, post it and we can work on it.

this is it.
Repeal NSUN Resolution #6: End Slavery.
BELEIVES that slavery is an uncivilised practice
COMMENDS the intentions of NSUN Resolution #6: End Slavery.
NOTES, unfortunately, that End Slavery fails to effectively end slavery in the following ways:
(I)
End Slavery never actually ends slavery. It merely bans the purchase or sale of people. Under this resolution, people can still be traded, bartered, given, and/or owned, as slaves.
(II)
Much of the resolution's text is given to off-topic legislation, which has little or nothing to do with ending slavery, such as the right to own possessions, and the right to travel freely.
(III)
End Slavery, by it's existense and intent (if not content) blocks any sort of other legislation on the issue of slavery, including legislation that could more effectively control slavery and the slave trade, dissaffecting since End Slavery does not end slavery.
STRONGLY URGES The immediate replacement of End Slavery with another more effective resolution of the same purpose.
REPEALS NSUN Resolution #6: End Slavery.

The nation of 'Kiften' also did quite a bit of work on repeal & replacement threads for this resolution, back around the beginning of the year: That nation has since ceased to exist, but the threads should still be accessible and might contain some useable ideas...

We'd be willing to support a repeal, but only if a replacement resolution is prepared and seriously backed beforehand.
