Just Applied to Join the U.N

Canadilia
06-09-2006, 20:28
To U.N member States:

The Republic of Canadilia beliving strongly in NSUN, has decided to join. However as looking from the proposals that are on deck to come up, as well as the resolutions that have been passed in the past it looks like the NSUN is changing. Probably for the good from what it loookes like because resolutions that had like short one liners, and had many loopholes that have been spotted in the present have been repealled. Which is good efficency for the United nations NS. However, there are some resolutions that are short in wording and have loopholes in them that if repealled may be reapealed just for the benefit of that one said nation who might not like that rule and decides to get rid of it but to get support, says "But hopes another resolution which gets rid of loopholes, or improves on this one is created" for an example. Hopefully, that is not the case. And the diplomat for the Republic of Canadilia is looking forward to working with other U.N members to pass resolutions that would be in the interest of all U.N member states.

We welcome the Republic of Canadilia to the UN. I'd invite you for a drink in the Strangers' Bar (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=310853), but I'm off to huff some hairspray. In the meantime, you might wanna contact UN Building Management about setting up an office.

Howdy. If you're not a drinker, I suggest you become one. You'll need it after participating in the debates here, trust me. Welcome to the halls of the United Nations. And by that I mean "good luck, I hope you get out alive."

Truth be told, it is. But truth also be told it is also that good.

How can this be? Because there is indeed a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde, one type of intelligent and wise deligate who will post for consideration the most excellent of all resolutions, while the other, writes prose so horrid that one wishes for Beavis and Buthead to make a rebutal.

Truth also be told that a shot of citrus flavored vodka does go well with a wheat beer chaser.

A newcomer to the United Nations myself, I've found the Strangers' Bar a very relaxing refuge from all the bullshit that oft descends upon the General Assembly during floor debates; it's a great place (the bar, not the GA) to have a beer, meet fellow diplomats, watch a couple of angry blonde princesses roll around on the floor, torment the Ardchoilleans, witness the portentious nativity of demon spawn, get a strange dragon hooked on your national beverage, even embroil yourself in a national sex scandal -- with or without the aid of a CPESL (http://z11.invisionfree.com/Antarctic_Oasis/index.php?showtopic=21) VIP membership card.

Seeing as how you're new here, you may wish to contact UN Building Mgmt (www.nationstates.net/un_building_mgmt) about securing an office at UN Headquarters (ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/UN_Headquarters) for your national delegation, then decorate (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=486600). I'm still trying to do something about all the damages to our office left by my predecessor. There's also some important paperwork (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=453162) your UN team should fill out.

Word to the wise: don't lock horns with Gruenberg in debate; don't try to drink Sen. Sulla or the Ausserlanders under the table; do NOT piss off the Cluichstanis (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=11625091&postcount=131); don't give the Wolf Guardians' rep reason to blow his holographic head off; feel free to place nations that annoy you on the World Heritage List (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/World_Heritage_List); steer clear of my deputy ambassador (unless you enjoy being stalked); and always, always vote our way during roll call, lest we target your homeland for "liberation (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=498545)."

Welcome to the UN, hopefully you'll enjoy yourself. :) However as looking from the proposals that are on deck to come up, as well as the resolutions that have been passed in the past it looks like the NSUN is changing.First of all, it's good that you have looked. Not everyone makes the effortProbably for the good from what it loookes like because resolutions that had like short one liners, and had many loopholes that have been spotted in the present have been repealled. Which is good efficency for the United nations NS.Probably right. On one level, the UN could be used to affect other nations, so if one nation had selfish motives, that doesn't make it an issue. On another level, if the majority of the UN agree with it, then the resolution is not the will of one, but the will of many. And the diplomat for the Republic of Canadilia is looking forward to working with other U.N members to pass resolutions that would be in the interest of all U.N member states.I'm sure other nations have the same hopes :)

We'd like to welcome the representative of Canadilia to the Assembly. Please feel free to drop by our offices at lunchtime some day for a kielbasa sandwich (or two) and a bottle of Olde Frothingshlosh (or several). Our offices are on the 7th Basement level. Just knock on the door with the "Boiler Room" sign.

"Hey, now. My head isn't holographic, the gun is. Welcome to the UN, Canadilia. If you ever need some stress relief, come to the Bar and I'll blow your head off. It actually makes this place tolerable," 013 snickers. "You missed about two weeks worth of fluff being passed, too. Lucky.

"Once again, welcome to the UN. It's a magical and fun place, no matter what happens." He can't hold himself any longer, and cracks up laughing.

Welcome.

Don't worry about Kennyite liberation. Maybe it's just us, since we're clear across to the opposite pole from them, but we've been just fine.

Although I'm sure if the Kennyite's do give you the hungry eyes, invade Chechnya. You'll be best friends again in no time.

Which, given the fact that it is almost to find a single armed force in Chechnya is surprisingly easy to do. Just don't be surprised if the population greets you with, "oh my god, you're not male strippers!"

Indeed, the Kennyite invasion of Chechnya (http://s15.invisionfree.com/UN_DEFCON/index.php?showtopic=36&st=0) earlier this year was extremely brutal.

Uh, hi. also just joined and hoping for a friendly welcome, if its not to much trouble a couple of OOC questions

1. this nation isn't in the UN, my UN nation can't get a jolt profile, is it OK if i use this as a proxy?

2. should i really apply for an office with building management?

Yes. There are quite a number of players who do this.

2. should i really apply for an office with building management?
Well...it's just one of the little traditions of the UN forum, really. It doesn't actually mean anything, so not really.

Only if you officially want your name added to the UN Building Directory (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/UN_Headquarters).

Hello everybody!
As constitutional king of the most compassionate monarchy of Sunnylven, I'm happy to join Canadilia in a bid for a better international society through applying for UN membership. :)
I noticed, to my great concern, that the most recent UN resolution being debated, about peoples' freedoms and working rights, was voted AGAINST by my regional UN delegate. I fear that only this may cause upset within the otherwise complete serenity of my country.
I give you all a small taste of my currency, of which I have in abundance: :fluffle:

Yours truly,
Andre Ljoen,
Constitutional King of Sunnylven.

OOC:

Welcome! Sure, you can use Achillean to join in the discussions here. A lot of people use "puppets" for Jolt discussions, for one reason or another. It's a nice idea to let people know what your UN nation is, but you don't have to.

As for getting an office through the UN Building Management, that's not required. It's a neat idea, though, if you want to roleplay your participation here. You could get an office for your UN nation, then let Achillean hang out there and do all the talking in the Assembly because the official representative never quite sobers up enough to do it. :D

We welcome His Majesty to the Assembly and look forward to his participation in our deliberations. And he's welcome to join us for kielbasa sandwiches and Olde Frothingslosh at his pleasure. Directions to our offices are elsewhere in this thread and we're too damn lazy to repeat them.
