Subject Index to UN Resolutions

Though NSWiki is spotty (sometimes it works wonderfully, othertimes it drives me to headbanging), its open source contributions make it IMO the best tool for keeping track of the subject content in our UN resolutions.

The above is a link to a subject index ... I'll be patrolling it, so please consider this a serious resource and not something to screw around with.

OOC: I just got my hands on the Battlestar Galactica Season 2 soundtrack .... OMG, it is hard to say what my favorite track is, but "Black Market", "Martial Law", "Pegasus" and "Lords of Kobol" all stand out.

This is an exceptionally useful resource, and we are very grateful to the distinguished representative of Mikitivity for creating it. We will be assigning two of our archival indexers from the Royal Library of Ausserland to monitor the project and make what contributions they can.

Great idea and awesome implementation, Mik. This is definitely a resource that will benefit from being on the wiki and the Ceoranan delegation will certainly assist with improving it.

Nice work, Mik. Question: where wikis don't exist for resolutions listed in the index, could we link to the resolution either on NS or Komo's thread?

World Heritage List? ;)

Thanks ... and when I make a "Mikitivity Heritage List" one day if it is monkeyed with "Luftschiff Eins" will go on a world tour. I might seem nice and fluffy, but the Miervatian Luftwaffe is not. :p

I added a link to Komo's thread at the bottom "Additional references", and we can link to the individual posts so people can see the resolution text -- a good idea. I'd prefer that we stick to a more standard Wiki format while maintaining a traditional "publishing" styled index appearance, thus I'm gonna suggest we do that using the following convention:

[ URL ]

This is the Wiki convention for external url references.

That said, eventually we should have the text and history behind each UN resolution (including the failed and repealed ones) up on NSWiki. A daunting task to say the least! I probably spent 30 minutes to a full hour tinkering around with Gruen's last resolution, and when I started to read the discussion thread again: massive headtrauma! :( People just had so many comments that I didn't see a clear cut way to begin to condense the draft debates, campaign, and official debate into something capturing the spirit of what went on ... ahem, in a polite way.

In general, I'd rather NSWiki link to NSWiki over other sources. So I'd only suggest we link to Komo's thread when there isn't a NSWiki article.

And Ceo thanks for making those edits. :)

I have somewhere between 20 and 30 resolutions yet to create basic NSWiki articles for. The subject index is pretty functional now, and I'd like to encourage players to use it to find out what we've done in the past. It has always been clear to me (even 2.5 years ago) that it is impossible to always keep track of all those old resolutions.

I wanted to point out that I'm taking my old UNA-Mikitivity notes and adding them to many of the UN resolutions. I think there is some interesting history that I recorded last year ... for example:

http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/The_Global_Library

There is much more I can do, but the UNA-Mikitivity was focused more on administrative and neutral issues, so I tended to avoid too many debate summaries.

As for my old hardcopied files of UN resolutions, when I've finished adding all the resolutions to NSWiki, then I do plan to update the pdf's ... which would allow people to also have access to the files when NSWiki is down (which seems to be fairly frequent). That said, I highly recommend players consider NSWiki's UN articles as a great reference point! :)

Very nice, Mik. I added it to the United Nations Reference Guide a while ago. Just thought you should know.
