Repeal #7: Sexual Freedom

The government of Kuraurisand has been considering entry into the United Nations. However, in going over the commitments we would be making, we have found a provision that would need to be repealed before we could consider membership. Therefore, another nation would have to formally make this proposal.

RECOGNIZING that there is no place for innuendo or unspoken truth in a formal piece of legislation

NOTING that UN Resolution #7: Sexual Freedom was intended to imply the sexual activity of two or more consenting adults

CONCERNED that such a resolution could effectively legalize drug use, unauthorized euthanasia, consensual combat to the death, and a plethora of other activities which would be otherwise illegal in a member state but conceptually involve "two (or more) consenting adults in the privacy of their homes"

THEREFORE REPEALS Resolution #7

URGES appropriately clear replacement legislation be proposed as soon as possible and expidited in the consideration process.

Unfortunatly while I agree with your arguement, the mods won't, they've ruled that since the title of the resolution says "Sexual Freedom" then that what the resolution is about.

Well, I guess from an OOC standpoint, that works for me, I just don't want to pose anything about a drug bust down the road and have someone come at me that I've violated Resolution 7. :)

In fact, I may have to change the title of this thread, I'm only up to 15 and almost every resolution seems to have /something/ in it's interpretation :P

It's called being realistic, I suggest you accomodate yourself with this principle.

Yes, funny how a resolution about sexual freedom would seemingly imply that sort of thing.

CONCERNED that such a resolution could effectively legalize drug use, unauthorized euthanasia, consensual combat to the death, and a plethora of other activities which would be otherwise illegal in a member state but conceptually involve "two (or more) consenting adults in the privacy of their homes"

Ah, slippery-slope. You have been much missed.

So that'll be "Sexual Freedom", without the sexual freedom bit then.

And sorry for the sarcasm, I just couldn't resist. Normally I'm a nice guy though.

May the blessings of our otters be upon you.

OOC: Where's a good place to post a 'news-style' thread about Kuraurisand's internal debate over joining the United Nations?

OOC: Would you like any other contributors?

OOC: Well yeah. :) I figured the initial post would end with a formal request for other nations' opinions on the issues.

I'm aware of a similar mods rules about UNSA, is there some more? Would be nice if we can get a list of those.
