i keep getting messages saying that laws have been passed to bring me into line with this or that.
where can i find more details on these issues, or what this means to my nation?
also, shaolin9 is a big pervy wuss.

The telegrams you are getting are from the compiliance ministry of the UN saying that you nation has done what it needs to do to comply with the UN resolution which passed.

The UN resolutions which your nation complies with can be found here: http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=357572

and what happens if i fail to do so?In game mechanics terms, it happens automatically. You might notice a change in your description, or in the big 3 values. You don't need to do anything. In this respect, compliance is mandatory.
You can roleplay non-compliance, but I'm not the best qualified to go into that.

In roleplay terms it is considered bad form to declare that your nation can ignore any resolution it doesn't like, and in effect most players assume member states to be in compliance with the letter, if not the spirit, of past UN resolutions.

Roleplayed noncompliance, however, is possible, and has happened before, but it's very hard to pull off.

In addition to the good advice you've gotten in this thread, let me add one little piece.

Flaming another player for absolutely no reason will not gain you respect on these forums. Quite the opposite, in fact. I strongly advise you to knock it off.

It makes no difference. When you use these forums as your public medium for discussion, you need to follow OUR public rules of decorum. Had you said it in a private message to him, and he didn't mind, we'd have neither known nor cared.

Your apology is welcomed and accepted.

Is there a bit about forum etiquette on the UN thingy?

Eh, Gruen and FL, Kenny and me (to a lesser extent) Cluich and... Not-Cluich all give eachother guff that is less than diplomatic, professional, and courteous, so as long as it isn't just (pardon the term) a bunch of bitchfighting, incivility isn't too irksome.

It definitly helps if you're as active and well-known as the aforementioned though.

It also helps when such comments are delivered in character and to another character. Dr. Leary calling someone, say, a "backbiting worthless hippy" is less likely to cause problems than me, the player, saying such.
