Could you please post the text here so we don't have to go looking for it.

Amazingly, he effectively did

Seriously, it is considered polite to post the text. That proposal list can get to be 20 pages long and I can be quite busy and I often endorse less than 5% of proposals that are put on these boards

Actually.....I endorse almost none, but that's besides the point.

I will read just about every thread on these forums, but I won't go hunting through the proposal queue to find your proposal just to determine if I want to endorse it or not. If you post it here, I can decide here. Alas:

Increasing technical support

A resolution to promote funding and the development of education and the arts.

Category: Education and Creativity

Area of Effect: Educational

Proposed by: Snappl

Description: Having the available tools for kids to use to up there grades and there learning in school. This also comes with developing equipment that makes it so children can learn better and also making school more safe place for kids to be safe in. If kids had more computers and books or resources then many of the kids who turn out to be poor will have less of a chance of that happening.

Approvals: 0

Status: Lacking Support (requires 129 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Fri Jun 16 2006

The Colony of Forgottenlands UN has not approved this proposal. [Approve]

Having read this I can sum up my sentiments about this in one sentance.

But what does it do?

-5.3- Proposing some non-profit organization or some companies to graciously offer some computers, internet access and technical support, as a sponsoring operation for them which can prove more efficient than a TV ad campaign

Even if it wasn't, its sheer lack of coherency and thought, evident lack of effort, lack of paragraphs and lack of understandable lines means I would've probably not supported it anyways. In future, I strongly recommend you come onto these forums and discuss with us whatever drafts you might have. Aside from often being able to point out any glaring inaccuracies, I should note that between 25-50% of proposals that are fully drafted on these forums reach quarom, compared to less than 1% of proposals that are made without formal drafting - including deletions by the secretariat for failure to comply with UN resolution rules. The major exceptions in the last year includes the UN Security Act I which holds the record for most utterly defeated resolution in history, Promotion of Solar Panels which holds the record for fastest repealed resolution of all time, and a few repeal attempts by the members of ACCEL - but considering they have their own forum community, even if the core of their membership doesn't come here, they certainly are drafting proposals at higher level quality. I suppose one should probably also toss the current repeal at vote which was authored by Change - but like ACCEL, they have their own drafting unit.

Seriously, it is considered polite to post the text. That proposal list can get to be 20 pages long and I can be quite busyBah. I trimmed it to just two pages this morning! Not my fault it ballooned when I went on vacation (but it does help my numbers for the next Olympics...)

But what does it do?Duplication [...] IllegalActually, I would probably ding this on a Format violation. Sure, duplicating existing Resolutions is bad, but anything in this format is going to be in violation. Typically, the telegram would be something like this:

"UN Proposals require more than just rhetoric. "Increasing technical support" has been deleted."

...because, in all honesty, this is little more than soapboxing. I suppose I should be pleased that people are putting forth the effort (and it's a damn sight better than 80% of the gun and marijuana Proposals), but I've grown a little jaded over the years.

Edit: Jesus Christ... it's back up to five pages!

Yeah, and about 4 pages of it are crap.

4 and three quarters. I just got a telegram from someone who wanted me to support their garbage ass free trade proposal. It really does suck hard. And... It's me. I'm flattered that they researched me so thoroughly. I mean, it takes a lot of effort to read the "Scandinavian Liberal Paradise" line there.

But anyway... Proposals need an argument and an effect. Arguments are claims or conclusions that are supported by premises and reasons that are true, valid, and reliable. That's the Logic definition, and it's pretty good. Effects are things that happen because of the passage of the proposal.

What this proposal has is a few claims. No premises. No effects.

Having the available tools for kids to use to up there grades and there learning in school.

If you are going to propose a resolution on the subject of education, unless you are proposing that we should all be stupid, please take the time and the effort to learn a little grammar (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/grammar) so that you can understand the meaning of the use of the pronoun form of there (http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary/there). There shall come a time when you need to use the word properly you know. Still it is always better when writers of resolutions use their (http://www.m-w.com/dictionary/their) dictionaries.
