No, absolutely not. Although Cluichstan has no income tax whatsoever (and we like it that way), we recognise other nations' right to tax their citizens as they see fit.

I believe this proposal is illegal because it contradicts a passed resolution that protects a nations right to decide its own tax affairs.

I was pretty sure that there was a resolution to that effect, but I just went with my gut with my response. ;)

Probably also gets dinged for Game mechanics violation since it tries to enforce something that's hardcoded into the game (it's much harder to control one's tax than it is to say "yes" to euthanasia). Probably also gets dinged for bloody stupid. Might even get dinged for Ideological ban.

Description: 1. That income tax is a violation of personal right.There are two things that everyone can look forward to 'death' and 'taxes' so why should we take one of those away from you.. Unless you want the other.

Also I'd like to know how taxes damage a nation. As how do you pay for things provided by the state with no funds coming in? There may be some problems with individual national tax systems but they all do what they are intended to do. Fund national functions. Remove them and watch nations fail because they can't protect themselves or their citizens.

A few questions for the honourable delegate:

1). What "personal right"?

2). Show me an example of where income tax has sufficiently damaged a nation to justify it being repealed.

Giving the government money to spend on society as a whole is damaging? Uhhhh....ok?

No. Really not. No chance in Hell. Somebody has got to pay for all the national defense systems.

Remove income taxes? Hell, no. That would utterly destroy our economy (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Ariddian_economy). Go and mess up your own.

(OOC:Although Ariddia's economy is officially "moneyless", the UN notes quite correctly that there is a 100% tax rate. When a foreigner visits the country and uses a taxi or buys a loaf of bread, for example, that money is, in theory at least, sent by the taxi driver or the baker directly to the National Treasury.)

Defiantley not. Many nations need tax to function. Paying for public services isn't cheap you know.

Citizens of Apachah are taxed fairly and there haven't been any complaints yet. Another thing, my economy is fragile enough without introducing a ban on income tax! It's our right to tax our citizens as we see fit

This proposal has been beat up on enough.



But that's not stopping me from taking shots at it too.

And what may replace it, taxation on consumption? Would you like a sales tax of 50%Thank you that was what we were suppose to be working on a law to raise national sales taxes to 61%... Thank you.. Still we also impose an income tax on them also as it cost a lot to put all my wives in shoes and then there are those growing kids.. As it costs a lot to teach them what color the recyle bag is for coke cans and what color it is for paper items, then teach them about all the different sexes out there in this universe, as well as all those other issues folks think are important along with the basic riting, reeding, kounting things subjects.

I think this poor, illegal Proposal has had enough.
