Does the UN really handle international issues?

Just curious what the general consensus is here.

You want to know what gets my goat?
Having a thread entitled, "Does the UN really handle international issues?"
But a poll entitled, "Is the UN dealing too much with "domestic" issues?"

Classic bait and switch by inverting the question.
By the way, I want my goat back.

I dunno. He's very selfish when it comes to his goats.

We steal ours from Sheknu. They don't even have a military!

Read before you vote? Wasn't intended as a bait and switch. Usually people that rush into things tend to use that arguement.

EDIT: I fixed it if that helps...

I vote "yes", the UN is dealing too much with domestic issues, and not enough with real international questions.

Give me an International question to address.

Yes indeed, it helps a lot. Although it's still listed as the original topic when you see the links at the top of the reply to thread page. Can't have everything I suppose. So I can vote with the assurance that my vote will not be taken for the opposite of what I intended.

I voted (or will vote as soon as I post this) NO.
The UN is not dealing too much with domestic issues.

Yes. Since I have joined, which is admittedly pretty recently, just about everything I have seen has been an attempt by the UN to reach into the internal lives of member nations, and dictate how those nations should be run.

Give it time. There are a few things that should be coming to vote sometime in the near future that are of a more international flavour.

I am giving it some time...I haven't yet resigned.

The NSUN is like a giant Nanny State.

Seems we have a concensus here...

Yes.

So? Everyone's known this for a long time. Some of us have tried to change that, rather than starting polls about it. If you want to legislate on international issues, write an international proposal; if you want to remove domestic regulations, write a repeal.
