Is it just me or do all resolutions get passed?

The title pretty much states my feelings. To fight this, i voted against the disibility act even though i am in favour of it. does anyone else feel this way?

Hundreds of people have felt this same way over the past several years. Unfortunately, like them, your feeling is incorrect.

At least in the absolute sense. There have been many resolutions and repeals voted down.

We respectfully suggest that the representative of Footer2 is not correct. In the last two months, 13 resolutions have been brought to a vote. 9 passed; 4 failed. A good reference guide to resolutions, passed, failed and withdrawn, can be found here: NSWiki UN Timeline (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/UN_Timeline)

We would urge the representative to reconsider his vote on the current resolution and vote in favor.

It's just you. :p I've seen several resolutions fail. Though it DOES seem like the bad ones pass. :p

I've seen some of the best ideas fail miserably and the worst idea ever to pass through the UN pass (and the only reason it didn't get a landslide victory was through a lot of hard work from one member in particular to raise awareness of how bad it was).

Yeah, resolutions fail

And it's not always the ones that deserve to fail.

Ok time for some stats:

From Fight the Axis of Evil to Patient Rights Act there have been 212 proposals to pass, fail, be repealed, be removed, be deleted, and be withdrawn.

Subtract all those who were deleted and withdrawn (11) for they never reached the vote and you have 201. I'll count passed, repealed, and removed (removed being deleted during the move to Jolt, see UN Timeline (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/UN_Timeline#Legend_to_Statuses) for Legend to Statuses) resolutions as passed for at one point they were.

Now, that leaves, of the 201 proposals, 33 that have failed, which means that 16.42% of proposals that reach the vote are not passed.

So no, not all proposals get passed. Only 83.58% do.

The fact that they need to receive approval by a certain proportion (currently 06%) of the regional delegates helps to weed out some that wouldn't have passed...

as well as some that might have done...

Not exactly true, Jey. The vast majority of proposals die a gurgling death somewhere in the bowels of the Proposal queue. They either fail to meet quorum and are swept into the dustbin, or they are blindfolded and led to the roof by UN gnomes where waiting mods give them a gentle push over the edge.

So in the overall scheme of things, proposal pass rate is probably closer to 1%, or even 0.1%.

I'm pretty sure he was speaking of those that have reached the floor. ;)

But yes, we should all thank the mods for saving us the pain of having things like...oh, I dunno...that hippo thing, the Inflatable Gandalf Act, and the Protection of Midgets Act from ever reaching the floor. :D
