The Hundred Days, A Delegate Warning

I am writing this as a warning to all U.N. Delegates, so that they do not have to go through what I had to go through. I am, of course, talking about a loss of power. At it's height, my Region had over twelve members (not bad for a new region), each one supporting me. But then, I grew neglectful, of both my nation and my region. I ignored them, and because of it, I lost everything. My region is empty. Everyone has either left or, affected by my apathy, neglected themselves, so that they no longer exist. I am the only one left. I was U.N. delegate for a little over a hundred days, and now my region (CRNFT) does not even have a delegate post, as it is too small. So beware, Delegates! Heed my warning! Pay attention to your duties, or the crushing loss of power will fall upon your head.

This is a U.N. matter. All Delegates need a this warning. That's the title I use all the time.

No, the U.N. discusses international policy matters and how to combat the major difficulties of today and the future, as well as empowering and assisting the citizens of its member nations. Delegate warnings belong in gameplay.

May the blessings of our otters be upon you.

Issues that delegates need to consider - along with founders, regional presidents, regional prime ministers, regional dictators, etc are not matters of the UN. Your arrogance in assuming that all delegates of all regions are the head of state for the regions and therefore responsible for the happenings and activity levels of the region is rather sickening. That is the job of delegates ONLY if the region decides to structure their government in such a manner.

Issues regarding proposals and resolutions that affect ALL members of the UN to the exclusion of those not in the UN are matters of consideration on this forum.

The Gameplay forum is for discussion about matters regarding ideas for regions to consider as they are developing their governments, structure, and would certainly include the responsibility of leaders to pay attention to their regions and keep them active.

Considering my region has a Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of Immigration and Minister of Introductions all tasked specifically with making sure Aberdeen stays alive, it is proposterous to say the job falls upon my shoulders alone - especially with the founder still being turned to as a light of guidance for my region.

I conseed that the "ruler" of a region is not always the delegate. Nevertheless, in the smaller regions holding on to power is a far more precarious buisness than in the larger ons, and I still say that I am in the right to post this in the U.N., as it does appy to the U.N. in these cases. My neglect caused my region to lose the right to have a delegate, and now has no voting power in nominating resolutions.

OOC:
While you are right that neglecting your region caused you to loose the power to endorse proposals, I also share the opinion (just an opinion mind you) that your friendly advice (and that is how I take it) also is more of a gameplay issue, because it is the game rules and nature of how people move around that are the cause ... the effect is that you lost those endorsement powers.

The dividing line here for this forum (again, my opinion) often seems to focus on the legislation.

That said, the specific gameplay issue you are talking about is a UN mechanics issue and also could be viewed as an IC appeal to appeal to smaller or younger regions ... so you are probably right too! :) The UN forum is a weird play that is part In Character (IC) and part Out Of Character (OOC), and though largely focused on proposals and resolutions, sometimes includes other issues related to unilateral laws and the mechanics of the NationStates United Nations. (I've even snuck a few posts about the real life UN here, and I'm sure the mods have seen those posts and just ignored them.)

As I see it, no harm! :)

Lord James,

I appreciate your advice on how to be a resonsible Delegate, but I'm also interested to hear if your government feels if there are ways that UN Delegates can better represent their UN Members (i.e. ways to advoid this from happening). Or do you believe this is a sort of natural regional entropy?
