Proposal for Universal Currency in each Region upon Choice

Regions should have the choice for choosing their own currency. They should be able to decide whether the region should have universal currency or individual national currencies.

The members should dispute the matters in regions and the UN delegate of the region should be allowed to apply to the UN for their region’s universal currency if more than 50% of the region supports the UN delegate.

Could you give some suggestions to better the proposal so I can turn it into the UN for the quorum.

I'm not all that fond of universal currencies. I can see the value when it comes to international trade. However I like my greenbacks, and would prefer the UN to keep out of the financial sector as much as possible. Sorry, mate.

To be more specific though, I prefer each nation, to have its own currency. I do see the benefits the Euro has had in RL(though I applaude the Brits for refusing to get rid of the Pound). I also prefer a hard currency, backed by gold or silver reserves(the value might fluctuate a bit, but they don't go bad like tulip bulbs:) ).

We're not sure we understand this proposal. If the nations in my region wanted to adopt a common currency, we could just get together and agree to do it. Why would the UN have to be involved?

My region of Hades has done exactly what you are suggesting. We thrashed the matter out on our offsite forum and settled on the Hadian Mark. Those nations that wanted to change their currency to the new regional standard then did so.

We didn't need UN involvement or sanction at all. It was all done by the members of our region, and within our region.

Well, I guess we could manually do it. But it would be cool if our regional delegate cud choose for us. And then any nation that joined our region wud have our universal currency and no member could mutiny against the universal currency. But my region will decide for now unless other nations are willing to take up the cause!

We have our own currency over here in Europe(im an american so im not referring to RL ;) ) but it's acceptance is based on joining the associations that support it. It's rather wrong to enforce all members of a region to have the same currency. (even in RL, not all EU members use the Euro)

Trouble with this one is that not all REGIONS contain full NATIONAL membership in NSUN. Thus it would not be possible to impose a NSUN resolution on a REGION just those single NATIONS in it that might be in NSUN..

This is why the NSUN can only deal with individual NATIONS not REGIONS... as not all members of given REGIONS are members of the NSUN....

1) Selection of currency is always a Game Mechanics issue. Plain and simple, it can't be done in the UN.

2) The UN doesn't have control over entire regions. They are a different type of International organization/government/whathaveyou. It's like the EU vs WTO. They don't have command of one another, but some of the members of one are members of the other and vica versa.

3) Regions already do have the ability to declare a common currency. In Aberdeen, it's called the UNAD. If your founder want to make it mandatory, he could start booting people who fail to convert their currency
