New Treaty: Nuclear Arms Limitation Treaty

Due to the ever growing threat from Rouge Nations and nations that consider Nuclear weapons as the Basic's of modern warfare we propose that all nations that have an Ideology that is a threat to world peace such as all types Dictatorship's should have there Nuclear arming codes submitted to the United Nations and should be given back to the nation in question if there need is desperate.

I also Propose that all nation with a population with less than 50 million should not own such horrific Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Would nation here accept this new treaty?

(Please note this is still in the planning stages.)

First off, you cannot deny any UN member the right to possess nuclear weapons, as that right is protected by UN resolution #109 "Nuclear Armaments." Secondly, I believe you mean Rogue nations not "Rouge" nations. Thirdly, why only make the dictatorships give up their arming codes? And Finally, we won't be supporting this no matter how it's written, so you can take my advice or leave it but you at least need to take the first two because if you don't follow the first one it will get your proposal deleted for a contradiction, and the second one will get you laughed at.

Well the next problem is that how would even define a "dictatorship" - I'm led to believe that there are some nations that are classified as dictatorships but sometimes the leaders of such nations franky do not believe they are corrupt, or are a dictatorship government.

Well since our population is well over 50 million will just skip that part. Now as for sending our laungh codes to the UN... Why don't we load them on one of our missles and send them to you to hold for us until we need them?

Since the UN has no Police or Military just who will guard them once they might get them.. Thus any rogue nation wants them just walks in UN and takes them.

This makes me wonder is #109 gives them the right to use them... as they can still have them without launch codes. Thus they possess the weapons... as per the resolution which not sure if it says they have to have codes to launch them just them..

Same way with any weapon as one may have right to bear it but there is nothing saying they can have ammo for them...

My comment there was directed at the line about nations with less than 50 million people not being able to possess nuclear weapons, other than that there is no conflict with #109.

PS I still wouldn't support this even if you paid me.

Yes, please, give me the ability to detonate every single UN nation at once with a bit of computer hacking.

Unfeasable. Besides, the UN has no jurisdiction over rogue states - they can do as they like.

Why does everyone automatically assume that rogue nations aren't UN members?

should have there Nuclear arming codes submitted to the United Nations and should be given back to the nation in question if there need is desperate.

This means that nations have to exchange these between each other thus not legal as violates RESOLUTION 151. As the UN is made up of individual nations thus exposing these to now not only the nation that had them to start with but any other nation might become involved.

Resolution 151
ARTICLE I. UN member nations shall not:
(1) Directly or indirectly transfer control or ownership of nuclear weapons to or from any nation.

As it would be a DIRECT TRANSER of control of such nuclear weapons........

I realize that the UN in itself is not a nation but still this means nations must give up control of their nukes to somebody or something other than themselves thus not complying with resolution 151 in turning over control to others...

We dont agree. This would put us in an unfavourable place against non-UN countries with nuclear weapons.
