As Member of the United Nations, We wish to bring to the attention of the Council the actions of one of the UN Member nations, Gilabad. It has recently come to the attention of the Government of The P.R Hangup that said nation has commited gross violation of human rights, and has murdered 90 foreign visitors to its nation, all members of the International Civil Liberties Union.

Said nation having not shown one ounce of remorse for this act, claiming that it falls to their own sovereignty as to how they deal with their own and other countries persons being in said nation,
the Government of P.R Hangup and also of The Beltaway, have imposed full and immediate trade sanctions against this nation.

We, the Government of P.R Hangup propose with immediate effect against this nation:

1: That the Council of the UN comdemn fully and irrevocably the actions of the Gilabad nation,

2: All members of the UN act immediately to restrict effective trade with the Gilabad nation, or to embargo all active trade with this nation

3: That the Gilabad nation be expelled from the UN for gross abuse of its own power, an disregard for human life within its own nation.

Strength: High - Action: Immediate

As delegate to the UN, I, Delegate Hung-Hi Won, ask for the adoption of this resolution as an Emergency Act for immediate completion.

This is illegal; resolutions cannot refer to individual nations. They also cannot be expelled from the UN for RPed actions. I believe in this case you have to ask for a Pretenema Panel decision.

Thank you to the officer of Golgothastan who posted that information. I will withdraw the proposal effective immediately, but could someone please tell me how to direct a case to the Pretenema Panel?

Yes. First it was gays; now it is abortionists. Especially original RPing on his behalf, I feel.

To request TPP intervention...I don't really know. People stopped RPing it, so you can probably just say you have a ruling, and go invade or whatever.

IRL, the UN can impose sanctions against Nations for their involvement in illegal activities, or the like. Why then is the N.S.U.N removed from this privilege? We don't expect nations who belong to the UN starting such major incidents as the one referred to. The UN IRL have sanctioned real countries for this... This kind of defeats the role of the NSUN if we can't use it effectively.

The problem is NSUN resolutions affect all nations; it's really not fair to target specific nations. The Eon Convention and Humanitarian Intervention resolutions were conceived to allow actions such as those you desire.

To answer this fine young nations enquiry, The NSUN is by its very nature a minnow in the NS community of Nations as not all the nations of NS are required to be members. Therefore The NSUN does not have the same or even similar powers as the RLUN. We as members set some resolutions which set the standard that a UN memberstate are to compose themselves nationally and internationally. As a result of one of these proposals "The pretenema panel" was convened on the UNO forum to investigate acts of Genocide by UN member Nations. This ultimately failed for several reasons with the result that If a nation wishes to commit genocide or any other crime or atrocity against its nationals or against peoples of another nation, they basically can. You may if you wish impose your own santions against the accused or even go to war with same. There are many role play threads where you can do just that.
My advice to you is to work here with the UN Members or join an off site forum such as the UNO and strive to raise awareness of these Rogue nations and come up with some tangable method of dealing with them. And best of luck with that as there is nothing stopping them.

That is correct. As it no longer functions, and one could say never really did, the pretenema panel section of the UNO has indeed been archived. However I feel a snipe from you at the best efforts of the nations involved is unjust and unwarranted. While I thank you for pointing the founder of this thread in the general direction of the UNO forum I will remind you that as a member of the UNO I will take any snipes at it, or the organisations it represents and hosts, personally. If You have any better ideas please do share.

1, I know Fonzo well from the NSO and UNOG.
2, Fonzo has the capacity for intelligence and is capable of looking after himself.

Fonzo did not participate in TPP. In that regard it was worth while participating.

To be clear, Fonzo's original comment was just a way of rewriting "TPP is dead" in a hopefully humourous way, and not intended as an insult. As Fonzo was not around when TPP was working, he has no opinion on its merits or the behaviour of its members; he simply knows that it no longer exists. ;)

Thats Cool fonzo. I was i'll admit being a lil bit pissy as i have worked hard lately to try to reinject some life into the sadly underused UNO forums. I read your post as a slur on the UNO as a whole and i personally think especially after my efforts, that wouldnt be helpful in aiding my efforts.

Hangup, there's nothing stopping you from starting an RP thread in International Incidents (?) and inviting UN forum regulars to participate. I don't think there's any enthusiasm for reviving TPP at the mo, though perhaps an RP thread will attract the attention of enough UN members to have a positive influence on the situation (should the participants choose to bring about such an effect). The inability to mobilise the UN is, sadly, a game mechanics issue.
