Repeal "Adoption and IVF Rights"

A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution

Category: Repeal

Resolution: #121

Proposed by: Dittorush

Description: UN Resolution #121: Adoption and IVF Rights (Category: Human Rights; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: AFFIRMING the principle of adoption and the benefits it brings to society.

RECOGNIZING that children are best served by being raised in a family.

CONCERNED at this resolution's mandate to all UN member nations to allow same-sex couples to adopt children, even in countries where such marital arrangements are illegal.

FURTHER CONCERNED at this resolution straying from its stated purpose and mandating scientific measures that are considered improper and unethical in many nations

DISAGREEING with the resolutions claim that "Couples cannot adopt children from a different nation..." This practice is common, as evidenced by the many adopted immigrant children in Western countries.

ENCOURAGING adoption in all member nations, through accredited agencies, regulated by the individual nations.

Voting ends Feb. 14th

I am starting this thread to hopefully gather some support for Resolution #121. I encourage all delegates who share the concerns expressed in the above resolution to add your support to the proposal, so it can go before all member nations for a vote. Even if you do not fully support the ideas expressed in this resolution, please consider the fact that it is in no way slanted toward a particular political belief structure; rather, R #121 seeks to limit the power of the UN over member states. Thank you very much for considering!

Umm, #121 is the one you are attempting to repeal. This proposal of yours, should it become a resolution, would be #145, 146 or 147 depending on the fate of the one at vote and the one after that. Oh and, no support from Yelda. Sorry Rush.

Sorry for being unclear on that. My fault entirely. Now, do you have any thoughts on the actual resolution?

I am totally and 100% for this resolution... and I will back it entirely.

This will aid Geneticon... and I feel the rest of the UN as well.

:)

Also, please take a look at my resolution "Outlaw Employment Harassment" and let me know what you think.

You have Geneticon's approval and votes! :D

I might support a repeal using the argument that #121 is guilty of micromanagement. I'm still not convinced that the UN should have legislated on this. However, I'm not comfortable with the references to same-sex couples used in this repeal. The sex and/or sexual preferences of the couple are irrevalent to me. Also, I'm not swayed by the reference to "scientific measures that are considered improper and unethical".

Except that gay marriages are legal in all UN nations. Read resolution #99.

Illegal. RL reference.

I'm sorry, but I don't agree with this. I'm not a fan of #121, but your repeal seems to say exactly the same things. And the stem cell research is already covered by another resolution. I'd go for redundancy, more than anything else.
