This chamber is becoming too conservative, inconsistant and partisan! But thats a democracy, isn't it? I urge every one to halt this turning back on Civil Rights that I see is tearing many nations away. The UN must inact policies that we should all -bi-partisanly- be proud of!

It's too left wing. I don't think i should take any political ideology except centrism, and can leave member countries to their own ideologies.

in San welu, I work very hard to give every Civil Rights and political freedoms. I sorry to say that the tax rate, however, is extremely punitive! for several months I've been working to balance all these things. I come into the UN chamber, a organization I'm proud to be a member of, and all I see is repeal this and repeal that. We must respect the law that came before us, we must not repeal for the sake of repealing, we must stop this assault on the poor, the sick and on womens rights.
I know that many countrys are highly conservative and others are helplessly liberal- centrist or moderate. In San Welu, I give the people what I believe that any moral government will give its people while I balance liberal, conservative ideals.
this is my first post in the UN! please be nice!

OOC: Centrism is also an ideology.

Besides, the whole point of the UN, as it states when you join, is to try to force other nations to be just like you.

;)

IC: The UN, be it forever praised, it but the extension of the will of the nations within it. We are proud to be a member, and humbled by the awesome responsibility that our region has invested in us as it's delegate.

Let us not get caught up in whether the UN as a whole is left-wing or right-wing. All such matters depend on where you stand. Instead, let's work together to make a good pragmatic UN.

As our great leader, Fu Huangdi once said,
"Hei mao, bai mao, na shu mao shi hao mao."

OOC: Kudos and a dozen cases of Hou Mianish huangjiu to anyone who knows that quote.

I think inconsistency is the main problem, but that seems to be caused by delegates not seriously considering the effects of a resolution until a repeal points out flaws.

OOC: I think it was more of a bit of advice. The reason is that there are those who like to find email addresses online and then harass the owners.

That, and spambots can find it and make your life a bit more difficult too.

I think they meant it as advice, rather than as an order. Spammers run millions of e-mail-harvesting bots that trawl forums like these seeking e-mail addresses to spam.

OOC: Actually, for me it's the chance to play an obsequious little squirt. Notice, I seldom take actual contravesial stands. Not good for diplomacy. I was referring to notice on the NS site, though.

don't get me wrong...I'm aware that it is controlled by the memebers countries. However, lets not try to say we all what the same thing for our nations and our selves! Historically chambers like this one ultimately fail due to tug-of-war games created as old laws and precedents become no longer what the new guys want= repealing!
We stand together at a very important time! Ring in the new!

I believe only a liberal's liberal could think this UN body is a conservative one. Take a look at the link [UN Resolutions throughout history] and you will not be able to find the fingerprints of conservativism there.

Also, I would not identify the current trend as a conservative one. Conservatives and liberals alike may like to decide issues for themselves instead of abdicating their authority to the UN to decide everything for them. Pro-sovereignty is actually not to the left or the right. It allows the left to be more left and the right to be more right.

good point. I started this thread to better understand WHY these issues from NationStates past are being Resurrected- changed a little and put up for another vote- in which- the repealed law usually gets written in. This has to change! It's inconsisent, the only consistently in the UN is that all the previous hard work will be changed, re-written and passed off as NEW when it's obvious to me (who studies all the UN decisions) the direction we're taking the UN is borderline (subjectively) conservative... in the sense that the we're turning the clock back on the laws that came before us! NOT in the sense that liberal and conservative are ideologies but adjectives describing the direction of this UN Chamber!

"If men were angels no government would be necessary." James Madison

this is the truest statements I've ever heard. It points out the very thing I want the UN to discuss.

I think it is hard to define U.N. trends as left and right, though such ideologies play a role. I believe the greater conflict is between National Sovereignty and International Federalism. At present, it is my personal belief that Nat Sov is achieving dominance (much to my nation's dismay), yet hopefully such a trend will eventually be reversed before too much damage is done.

May the blessings of our otters be upon you.

San Welu, chill...Fris was 'censoring' the person who attacked you, not you yourself. He's a moderator, it's his job to ensure people don't get offended.

sure go ahead and "forumban" me! I'm not out of line...you're a censor. I question your motives in silencing me. You know I'm right. You were a little late to moderate this thread! weren't you? you sicken me! it's just a game and I just asked a question to see what people are thinking about...you might understand this. I got a lot of info and I realized many people who contacted me (who are apart of this "game") support me so maybe you can type from your computer and try and silence and maybe you can kick me out of the game. But I don't care I have a life so madam you're out of line!

I was successful...I was contacted and many people agree that questioning some of the things going on in this game are shotty at best! and you're part of it apparently...

good bye maam

San Welu,

Fris was not talking to you. Fris was talking to "Today's Whim," who had intentionally posted something that would be widely accepted as "flaming." Almost all forums include a provision for banning people who intentionally seek to upset others without actually contributing, aka flaming. Fris was not talking about banning you for raising question.

Please, calm down. There is no reason to launch an attack at a mod for doing their job, and keeping discourse civil. Please, try to be civil yourself.

First of all, Frisbeeteria is male. Second of all, he enforces the rules of the site that were set by the owner of the site, one Max Barry of Australia.

If you feel that restricting personal attacks is an unfair and inappropriate form of censorship, you can always try to change Mr. Barry's mind about the rules he set for his site. Just remember that this is his property and he can make what rules he likes, regardless of your feelings, just like you can do whatever you like with your property regardless of Mr. Barry's feelings.

A player's two cents.

Disclaimer: I'm no fan of censorship either, but when I clicked that little box after I read the Terms and Conditions I obligated myself to abide by the rules and the consequences of violating them. I'm also no fan of the majority of the UN's policies.
