The Great Democratic Republic of Guardinopolis highly opposes the referendum to repeal resolution # 12. We are a socially-minded nation that believes in the social and sexual rights of all people (within common civility and morals), which includes the civil unions and civil rights of homosexuals. We question the motives of any government who has voted for this resolution.

2 more idiotic arguments for voting against until Jey switches its vote to FOR.
You guys just don't stop with your stupidity do yeh? Read the "Resolutions Throughout History" page please.

Perhaps the delegate from Jey should be counting the blatantly insane arguments in favour of the repeal? Because he conveniently seems to ignore the homophobic drivel coming out of some other delegates. (Post 246 and 247, for example.) Frankly, I don't care how you vote. The outcome is fixed now anyway. so the threat is silly.

Riley exhaled deeply and sat up in his bed, exhausted but satisfied as he lit a cigarette. "Hell of a ride, eh, baby?" he said to the shapely woman lying next to him.
His companion looked up from the magazine she was reading. "Oh. You're finished?"
Riley didn't hear her, engrossed in his thoughts as he was. The thrilling saga of the latest UN repeal that unfolded over the previous week had just been brimming with action, suspense, hot sex, brave escapes, daring rescues, adrenaline-rushing car chases, Wild Turkey™ by the barrel, and numerous calls to Cluichstani Private Entertainment Services Ltd. And all the UN ambassadors had seen was a boring floor debate.
The Kennyite envoy alone had been taken on a rollercoaster ride that included a direct military threat from the St.-Edmundian forces on the roof of the UN Headquarters; a bitter quarrel among the dark and shadowy figures who shape the UN's destiny in a dungeon floors beneath the UN building; emotional protests from gays and lesbians who falsely, yet understandably, deemed the repeal a direct assault on them; the likelihood that this would be the very first successful Kenny-sponsored repeal; no less than a dozen steamy sex scenes featuring women of ample endowment and negotiable morals; and the mysterious ringing coming from the belfry at midnight, which had been accompanied by a flash of light from the nearby lighthouse, which was how the brothers discovered that old Mrs. Winston was lying about what time she had gotten home that night, and how they found out the smugglers at Pirate Cove weren't scary pirates at all, but the dodgy Mr. Thornsborough and his two sons.
The latest cast member rolled her eyes as Riley recounted his exploits of the past week. "Yeah, business is usually good when all the foreigners come to town for a high-profile debate," she added unenthusiastically. "Speaking of which, that'll be $350."
Riley turned to her, dumbfounded. "You're a ... you're a hooker?!"
"I'm a servicewoman," she corrected him. "Now where's my money?"
"Damn!" Riley gasped. He should have known what was up when she asked him if he was a cop! "Errr ... of course I have your money!" he stammered. "I ... uhhh ... left it downstairs!"
The diplomat fell out of the bed, desperately scouring the floor for his clothes.
"Oh, God, one of these stiffs again," the woman muttered as she dialed her cell phone and placed it to her ear. "Yeah, Nick? This guy here refuses to pay up! ... Yeah? ... Uh-huh? ... OK." She hung up. "He's on his way," she announced as she pulled a nailfile from the nightstand and calmly began to work on her nails.
"Mmmph-mmmrrrpphhh!!" Riley screamed though the bundle of clothes he had lodged between his teeth; by now he was hanging out the window stark naked, and as he dangled there, nine stories up, helplessly kicking his feet and clinging to the window ledge, all he could think to himself was, Another fucking scandal! The Federal Senate is not gonna like this!

Let this be a lesson to everyone: Always pay the CPESL servicewomen. ;)
The resolution Repeal "Gay Rights" was passed 8,084 votes to 5,359.
Too bad...if this proposal remained At Vote for another hour, we surely would have had to change our vote.
Even worse, gays are now being tortured as we speak in many UN member nations...oh wait...nevermind.

OOC: This month, we celebrate Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays. However, because of the desire of some anal state legislators to streamline school holidays, many states have consolidated the Great Emancipator's birthday with that of bastard slaveowner George Washington in a single, made-up "Presidents Day" holiday. I just wanted to point out that everyone who supports Presidents Day is on the same side with slaveowners. Yeah, that's right ... slaveowners. ... What? ... That's a false argument? ... Oh, well.
On another note, a few years back I attended a student leaders conference in Boston, and when the discussion got rowdy, as these things notoriously do, the chairwoman would toss mints at the offenders and tell them not to speak again until they'd finished sucking on them. Next debate, Riley's bringing a whole damn barrelful of those little things. :p
For those of you who may be despondant that all the fun of this debate is over [], well, fret ye not: Freaky wiki entry coming up ...
The Dominion of Bmol congratulates Omigodtheykilledkenny for a succesful repeal of a redundant resolution, if more people had an objective view like his the U.N. would not be cluttered with loop-holes and obsolete resolutions.
Cheers mate! :)

First of all, I am new to the forum, and new to the UN. I was unaware there was other legislation in play concerning Civil Rights of homosexuals. Dumb noob move on my part, I got it.
Symbolically, however, the removal of a "Gay Rights" Resolution looks barbaric and backward from a delegation as progressive as the UN (as it did to me). Whether or not the right is protected under similar resolutions, it is a blow to civil liberties to remove it. It is much like in America, the desire of some conservative politicos to create a "Constitutional Marriage Amendment" is outright offensive and discriminative to American gays.
Let me reiterate, any repeal of a Human Rights Resolution, even if found elswhere in UN Delegation, will be voted against by Guardinopolis.
