In order to bring security to the entire world, I have submitted the UN Military Forces Act. I ask all regional delegates for their approval in order to bring this critical piece of legislation to vote in front of all member states. I thank you for your consideration.

Your resolution isn't too clear and, to me, sounds like you're creating a form of a UN military, which is illegal.

UN Military Forces Act

A resolution to improve world security by boosting police and military budgets.

Category: International Security

Strength: Strong

Proposed by: Bostonia by the Sea

Description:
An act to increase Peace and Security around the world by establishing an International Military, which shall be under the authority of a new department within the UN to be called the “United Nations Department of Military Forces.”

A “Secretary of Military Forces,” who shall be the leader of a member state, shall be the head of the department. The Secretary will be elected by member states every year.

This Department shall be responsible for intervening in situations in which the situation is serious enough that UN assistance is required. It shall also act as a peacekeeping force in nations who have requested assistance, as long as that nation does not violate the rights of its citizens.

When a nation or nations is threatened with invasion and its sovereignty is in danger, the UN may, by a majority vote, order the military forces to stop the invasion.

These military forces shall stay in one nation until a situation has stabilized or the UN votes to withdraw troops.

Approvals: 2 (Bostonia by the Sea, New Hamilton)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 119 more approvals)

Voting Ends: Tue Jan 24 2006

That's the proposal by the way.

Clearly illegal, I'd say.

Just out of interest, can it be made legal to have a security force? To keep peace in civil-war torn countries?

No

Fris pointed out to us that if there was anything of the sort, people would start calling on it and the all of a sudden, he feels that moderators would HAVE to run it.

......

Thus all possible incarnations of this force is illegal.

What if someone declared war on the UN? It can't defend itself with cleaners and secretaries? Does every UN member pitch in, or does the un find a magic lamp and wish for a mega-army?

Considering the UN is everywhere and nowhere at the same time, they can't take out the UN building unless they try to raid it via the portals - in which case, it would be quite interesting seeing what sort of defenses the various UN Gnomes have installed everywhere - not to mention the mutants on B15 and down, the Regiment of Angel Fire troops on B14, an airship docked to the roof, and the invisible level 69 3/4.

So the only logical way to declare war on the UN is to have a blanket declaration of war against the individual members - and while they may not have a common military command unit against any aggressors, attacking 30,000 nations simultaneously is probably not the wisest thing to do.

SWEET FLAMING A**CRACKERS!!! You can't be serious in creating a UN military. My Home nation and region would probally be the first to be crushed under its Jackbooted heel. My emperor, and myself would probally be the first put up against the wall and shot!(Well maybe there would be a tie between some other well known AO nations and personalities). THe Palentine says a resounding NO!
