The UN, Divorce, and Treason

I may not be a part of the UN, but I definitely see a growing trend wherein the UN is slowly infringing upon the rights of countries to govern themselves. Certain powers that should be reserved to maintain cultural and religious identities are being swallowed up... and soon all UN Member Nations will be like one psychotic dictatorship.

On this note, I present my Ode to the UN

Oh, UN, I love thee... thy persistance is unmatched,
Whatever flaw you thought you saw, like a predator you snatched.
Yesterday you were so young, a girl scout at our door;
But now you're growing older, and you're demanding more.
Today you're in our kitchen, you're devouring our food.
And somehow we keep passing issues, as if even half were good.
Tomorrow is a new day; you'll wake up at our bedside.
From terrorists we have no fear... it's from you we cannot hide.
Oh, UN, I love thee... but only cuz I must,
To vote AGAINST is treason: for that you'd nuke me into dust.

I was going to yell at you for not posting your comments on the current resolution at vote in the official thread. Then I read your kick-ass ode. Well done.

Hmmmm, the metre could be better. But nice. ;)

The Ausserland delegation applauds after the ode is read. This ain't Shakespeare or Longfellow, but it's nifty. :D

Weinerdogstan would like to commission a large peice of marble with your ode inscribed upon it. Do you take Bobs?

Hey, it's free to the world public. Anyone can inscribe it in anything they like... it's just my feelings on the matter.

I made edits to your title,
"The UN, Divorce, and Treason"
Your prior edit
Did not get it
(Like I really need a reason).

Krioval, are you actually writing something there? All I seem to get is a whole lot of question marks.

Oh, and to keep this vaguely on topic, brilliant poem.

OOC: Yeah, it's Japanese text. The English translation follows it.

Ah, right. That makes it clearer.

Off topic? Moi?

Thanks for this fine prose...
The best way to better a situation is to lead, follow or get out of the way. We in Cramistan are leading the way to simpler resolutions...

You going to spam every thread about this?

----

I'm not much of a poet. So, in the spirit of a (not relevant) discussion on UNOG, thought I'd leave it to someone who is.

And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Love and esterel,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. But come;
Here, as before, never, so help you mercy,
How strange or odd soe'er I bear myself,
As I perchance hereafter shall think meet
To put an antic disposition on,
That you, at such times seeing me, never shall,
With arms encumber'd thus, or this headshake,
Or by pronouncing of some doubtful phrase,
As 'Well, well, we know,' or 'We could, an if we would,'
Or 'If we list to speak,' or 'There be, an if they might,'
Or such ambiguous giving out, to note
That you know aught of me: this not to do,
So grace and mercy at your most need help you, Swear.
