Repeal UN taxation ban

Description: UN Resolution #4: UN taxation ban (Category: Social Justice; Strength: Significant) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: There are a lot of Resolutions currently in place at the UN, but these resolutions all cost money. That money has to come from somewhere, therefore we should have tax. Given that there are over 30,000 member nations and counting, the tax wouldn't have to be great.

The UN can already tax nations. Resolution four simply prevents the UN from levying a tax directly on the citizens of UN member nations. And exactly where did you think the UN was deriving its current funding from, anyway?

The resolution says that the UN can not tax CITIZENS, not NATIONS. So your arguement is somewhat misguided :}

Considering how often this resolution is misread and misunderstood, I can't help wondering if it should be repealed and replaced with something more clear, to the point and easy to understand.

Of course we do run the risk of a replacement not passing, and that may be a risk too great to take.

Why don't we do make a resolution putting a tax for the UN? That way, the UN does have money to funds it programs...while paying for its gnomes.

I've always preferred to think that funding from the UN comes from the use of volunteer (i.e. enslaved) gnomes to mine crude treacle...

i think unr #4 is fine as it is.

its clear in the resolution that taxes cannot be levvied on citizens of a UN member state.

The UN gets its money from nations when they pay their dues. (OOC: the same way the real life EU works)
