Lazy links to proposals
Lazy links to proposals:
An idiots guide to linking to your proposal
Often we will see nations write a proposal, post it in the UN forums with a couple of lines post saying that their proposal is really really great and we should endorse it. Some more advanced nations might tell you what page on the proposals list it currently resides in. However, this changes as time passes, so the URL used initially will no longer be accurate.
There is another way to link to proposals, without relying on page numbers.
If you enter a URL of:
http://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_proposal1/match=gambling
into your browser, you will get a list of all the proposals which have gambling within them. Change whatever you have after "match=" to a relevant keyword for your proposal, and then you have a nice lazy link.
If you want more than one keyword, have each on divided by %20 rather than a space. So, if you wanted to look for all proposals which ban gambling, rather than just gambling proposals, you would enter a URL of:
http://www.nationstates.net/page=UN_proposal1/match=ban%20gambling
What's this good for?
1. Linking in the UN forums. Put a similar URL in your post (editing the bit after match= ) and interested delegates can click on the link and look.
It is considered especially good practice to include either a URL or a copy of a proposal when posting in the UN.
2. Telegram campaigns. A lot of nations telegram delegates en masse to drum up support. Many delegates appreciate having the chance to go straight to the proposal rather than having to do the hard work.

Nice. This is a very useful post. Hopefully people will start taking notice of it. Perhaps you should explicitly mention that it's considered polite to link to any proposals you are seeking approval for/comments on, and to c+p a copy of the text.

I think you just did. But yeah, this is a nifty thread. I think it shoul make it into the FAQ, so that it becomes general practise when submitting proposals to the forum.

Agree with you
i proposed something few days ago but get no answers:
Is it possible to add a link on the UN page:
http://www.nationstates.net/page=un
The link will be something similar and better to:
[If you want, you can post, debate and improve your proposition on the UN forum before submitting it]
just next to:
[List Proposals] [Submit a Proposal]
and thes link could be also next to [Submit a Proposal] at the top of each proposal pages

At the moment there are 102 proposal submitted

Is it because there is already 1 week since the end of the last vote, and 12 days since the last passed resolution?

no, its because some new nation will come on and try mass repeals or submit mass idiotic proposals

We have a lot of proposals, yes. Are any of them likely to reach quorum? No.

Has one of them reached quorum already? Yes. Are at least two looking like they will also do? Yes.

Ausserland would like to thank the distinguished representative from Hirota for his most helpful posting. We hope it will be made permanently and conspicuously available to all.

This ain't anywhere near a record. about 18 months ago, it was pretty common to find 20-25 pages, and sometimes more. Of course, a whole lot of them were illegal, but it certainly helped get Enodia the gold medal in proposal deletion in every Mod Olympics he was part of.

Here is what i suggest, if its possible to add something to the html code:
UN page:

Proposal pages:

I've seen it in the mid-20s before, I believe, back in last spring or winter, when the current records for UN nations and total Nations were set.
I pity the mods at that time, too, having to sort through all those junk proposals.

If you like, I can add it to one of my stickies. It is very helpful, and like Auss said ICly it should be made visible to all.
