Title : Ban of Unresearched Proposals
Category: The Furtherment of Democracy
Strength: Severe
Proposed By: Caer Dunnottar
The Nation States United Nations

Recognizing that each nation wants to be heard.

Noteing that many nations want their proposals passed.

Noteing that certian proposals are not properly studied. (I.E. Fossil Fuel Redution Act)

Stateing that such unresearch proposals are more harmful then good due to unresearched consequences of said proposals.

Solution:
1) Each proposal should require proof that it had been properly researched
2) If a proposal is found to have not been properly researched it should be removed from the floor of the UN.

OOC: Sorry, that just drives me nuts.

I think you should have a look at this thread.

Especially the bits on game mechanics and meta-gaming.

If only this wasn't illegal, if only...

We of the community of Stealthmunchkania, valuing education and articulacy, consider proposals with egregious spelling and grammatical mistakes to be at least as bad as unresearched proposals.

Please tell me this hasn't been submitted yet. It would be deleted. It should be abandoned. Nothing like this will be allowed to stand.

no this was just a test I submited due to certain boneheads submiting proposals without doing the research to go along with it. :p

That's sort of ironic isn't it. You've made a proposal that goes against the rules that state you can not submit a proposal that restricts or forbids furture UN resolutions. Jack-assery at it finest or just less than bright?

Both. And bonus points to our Bolshikstani friends for use of the term "jack-assery." :D

So, if you can only really do a study of real world issues, and noting that rt tie ins are banned, does that mean we would ban all proposals if this came into force?

Just an aside

This is a proposal to ban unresearched proposals
But the author didn't sufficiently research the rules governing proposals

Does that mean we can ban the author? ;)

Yet more arrogance on the part of prospective legislators. Why does anyone bother continuing in the UN if they believe that all their peers are so uniformly stupid, ill-informed and generally inferior?

Because we like the feeling of intellectual superiority!

Solution:
1) Each proposal should require proof that it had been properly researched
2) If a proposal is found to have not been properly researched it should be removed from the floor of the UN.

(I'm in a Captain Kirk mood)

1) It is against NS rules to put meta gaming directives in resolutions.
2) This rule is clearly indicated in the F.A.Q. (*)
3) Therefore this proves you have not properly rsearched your proposal.
4) Therefore it should be removed from the floor of the UN.

EXECUTE THE PRIME DIRECTIVE :D

Game Mechanics violations are attempts to change how the UN works. Generally, these are Proposals that should be threads in Technical. Anything that requires and adjustment to how the game does things, or requires a change of code falls into this category. Requiring "proper" spelling, adjusting the number of votes needed for queue, creating a universal UN currency, and forming a "secondary UN" are all examples of this. Another example of this is forbidding UN action at a future point in time -- you can't make your Resolution "Repeal-proof" or prohibit types of legislation.

The above scenario is quite possible. Of course it might be als true that you knew that and posted this as a wonderful example of the power of irony. Personally I prefer to think that the latter case is true and your post was a brilliant example that brightened my day. :)
