Nuclear Weapons Disposal
A Resolution to Increase Worldwide Police and Military Budgets

Category: International Security
Strength: Strong

The NationStates United Nations,

NOTING that many nations have chosen to stockpile nuclear weapons.

OBSERVING that these devices are a waste of space while they are just lying around in secure military locations.

CONSIDERING nuclear weapons to be dangerous items by their very nature.

SUGGESTS that it would be best to dispose of these weapons rather than leaving them in the aforementioned military locations, where they might be set off by accident.

DECLARES that all nuclear devices possessed by member nations must be shipped to the nation "HotRodia" for disposal.

COMMENDS the nation "HotRodia" for its visionary effort to dispose of these devices in a sanitary manner by the use of the Big Red Button (BRB).

Please make the world a safer place by allowing us to use the BRB mechanism to rid the world of these awful weapons. Thank you.

Sorry HotRodia, but any nuclear weapon sent to another nation for "disposal" will be set to detonate upon arrival in said nation.

Tho i am not a member of the United Nation, i am the page that emptys the trash cans, while transporting WMDs to other countrys is rather risky with the hope they disarm it, i do belive, with the invention of the Ion Bomb nokes are now Artifacts of a Barbaric past.

Ion Bombs are more than capeable of the same distruction of the Nuke, it has no lasting efffects on the terain and doesnt distroy lanscape or buildings with religious or political sugnifigances.

/me puts a new bag in the can he is working on, and continues,

It would be much more effeciant to dismantle them in our own countrys and use the parts to beter our sosity such as powering power facilities.

/me finnishes baging the trash cans and exits the room.

If you make all the U.N. nations give up their nukes whats stopping the roge nations that arnt in the U.N. who have nukes from nuking us? With nukes you can at least make them think twice before nuking you. Because you have the means to nuke them back. I think we shouldnt waist time trying to disarm nukes when other nations will just make more. Its silly. You can't make all the nations give up their nukes. There will always be nations out there that want to hurt you. You need to defend yourself.

Sure... i'll 'DISPOSE' of my nuclear weapons... to HotRodia...

Do you mind if I just fly them in under their own power? Or would you rather I airdrop them in your backyard? Either way, I'm predicting a 100% accident rate, so try to take cover. :D

The Prime Minister of The Armed Republic of Independent Birmingham has cut short his holiday to Cuba to return to the UN and make a statement regarding nuclear weapons:

It is the wishes of the Republic that no UN resolution will be involved with interfering with the weapons programs of said country. We do not consider our personal affairs an international issue, and we would kindly thank our right honourable friends at the UN to campaign against such an intrusive policy to our country's rights.

Thank You

I say that nuclear weapon stockpiles should be kept in the countries they were first manufactured. There's no telling when lab chimps worldwide will revolt and begin tossing fireballs at innocent citizens of the world! When the Many are upon us, <your deity's name here> help us all. Those nations with nuclear arms must look out for not only themselves but for those less fortunate nations without mass destructive capability. The time is nearly upon us!

Now, if you will excuse me, I have a marathon LAN party to attend with the head of National Security. *begins reading System Shock 2 manual*

And on a less serious note

I don't like the idea of mass volumes of nuclear weapons being shipped to one nation -- especially HotRodia with it's BRB device!! Instead, all nuclear-capable nations should be held responsible for the disposal of their own stockpiles. In saying this, I must ask if the technology does indeed exist for such disposal. How much would it cost? How effective is the technology, and what would be the possible environmental ramifications of using such technology?

Furthermore, HotRodia should be commended for its cunning use of humor in the face of such a grave and serious topic. ;)

OOC: It'd be awful hard for most HotRodians to be treehuggers, what with there being all of ten trees in the whole country, and all of those in private gardens. :D
