Are you really paying attention?

Over the course of the last couple of months, I have noticed that many of the Resolutions have been passed. And that's ok, I just assume that there is an abundance of democratic nations. But the new Resolution made me re-think that. Why in the world are we repealing a Resolution that we had just passed? Are the voters actually reading what the Resolution says? Or are you blindly voting For the Resolution?

This parallels what has been going on in the US Congress lately. And what good has come of that? Now I know that there is nothing I can do to change your vote, I would just like to ask that in the future, all UN delegates would actually read the Resolutions before voting for them. So we can avoid this kind of predicament in the future. As we are wasting time and impeding process by going back and refocusing on that resolution so early after it was passed.

On day 3 of voting on the original resolution, 3 things happened that pretty much determined that this resolution was going to be repealed:
1) Starcra II was finally convinced by the forum members (there was a lot of opposition on the forums) that this was an unfeasable resolution and indicated his support for repeal.
2) Telidia began a massive telegram campaign to many delegates. This ended up stirring up a ton of debate on off-site forums or regional boards as people started considering the consequences. In fact, the final days of voting reflected this new thought. However, many hadn't had enough time to debate before the resolution was passed, hence the actual repeal
3) A repeal and a replacement started being drafted on the forums, getting a fairly decent level of support - the former, almost unanimous.

What's interesting is that the debate that had been happening amongst the forum regulars had finally started happening amongst those throughout the world and that is why we were so quick to change our decision.

In this quarter, we've had a shockingly high failure rate of resolutions, and another one also was close to failure. There is quite clearly more people who actually take the time to think it through.
