Greetings All

I have drafted up a proposal for a United Nations Resolution please let me know what you think thanks.

Draft proposal for space land law

A bill to create laws governing land rights in space and protect the future of space exploration.

Description: Acknowledging that with further development of space exploration methods, it is foreseeable that mankind will be able to travel to other planets in the future and may wish to set up bases upon these planets.

Noting: The exploration of space is considered essential in order for science to further our knowledge of the universe, as well as being of enormous public interest.

Further Noting: United Nations Resolution #50 prohibits any nation from claiming ownership of the Moon.

Proposes: The United Nations shall claim ownership rights of all uninhabited planetary bodies within Earth’s solar system with the exception of the Earth and the Moon

Defines: An uninhabited planet as a planet that is scientifically proven beyond doubt to contain no form of intelligent life.

Defines: Intelligent life as a life form capable of independent thought.

Decrees: That the United Nations will not acknowledge any existing ownership rights by individual persons or non government bodies.

Further Decree’s: The United Nations shall not use it’s ownership of planetary bodies to generate revenue and shall not enter into any agreements which may seek to exploit the United Nations ownership of the aforementioned planetary bodies.

Which category will you put this under? I would put this under

Borderline House of Cards. I think its acceptable, but others may disagree.

Proposes: The United Nations shall claim ownership rights of all uninhabited planetary bodies within Earth’s solar system with the exception of the Earth and the Moon

Duplication. The Moon can't be claimed by Res 50 (which you pointed out) you can ban something twice.

Overall, ithe proposal sounds pretty good. You address the issue very well. However, if you want the resolution to pass, you have to fix up the duplication (and possibly the House of Cards) violation.

Not a problem. I will switch to the FT aspects of my nation for this. I mostly ignore them for posting on here because my nation is just PMT with a few FT items. My fighters, for example, could concievably go up against a nation using F16s without requiring the nation to accept FT.

In NS, that has already been done. The Terran System is one of the most heavily populated systems in NS. I will wait before I comment further.

Noting: The exploration of space is considered essential in order for science to further our knowledge of the universe, as well as being of enormous public interest.

Hmm. Keep this. The public interest part waxes and wanes, but proper handling of it by the media can get a public interested again quickly.

Further Noting: United Nations Resolution #50 prohibits any nation from claiming ownership of the Moon.

This was called as a House of Cards violation, but I do not see it. This does not need that one to continue standing due to how you worded it.

Proposes: The United Nations shall claim ownership rights of all uninhabited planetary bodies within Earth’s solar system with the exception of the Earth and the Moon

Defines: An uninhabited planet as a planet that is scientifically proven beyond doubt to contain no form of intelligent life.

I would add a clause that has the UN respect any existing claims or colonies.

Decrees: That the United Nations will not acknowledge any existing ownership rights by individual persons or non government bodies.

I would drop this. Private ownership of a small enough planet my even be desireable for development purposes.

Further Decree’s: The United Nations shall not use it’s ownership of planetary bodies to generate revenue and shall not enter into any agreements which may seek to exploit the United Nations ownership of the aforementioned planetary bodies.

Keep this.

Overall, good. It has a couple minor issues to be dealt with.

Considering that the colonies already on the moon at the time of resolution 50's passing went "oh ****", yet are still there claiming it as their own, I think it would be impractical to try and make a similar claim about all other known bodies.

I would LOVE to see the U.N. attempt to enforce this.

I can see the headlines now: "NSUN Claims Uranus".
