A serious question...

Joint Conglomerates

OOC: Does anyone care that the United Nations Charter is being regularly violated in this simulation? You do understand that the UN has absolutley no power to force a nation to use solar panels, right? I mean, Article I of the charter, guys. The UN doesn't have the power to do a twelfth of the stuff these resolutions suggest.

.... Or does that not matter? Just thought I'd ask, sorry if I'm a pain in the ass.

UN Charter? Are you talking about the real life UN? We don't have a charter.

OOC: Yeah, I didn't think so... wait... then that means...

MEMO
TO: ESTEEMED MEMBERS OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
FROM: CHAIRWOMAN DEBRA MACKENSAY, FOREIGN RELATIONS MINISTER, CEO OF BIOGEN INDUSTRIES

Delegates, can we not all agree that the world would be a much more efficient, productive, profit-wielding place if there were fewer people in it? In order to expedite this noble ideal, the Federation of Joint Conglomerates proposes the following:

i. Each nation be required to administer a lottery (in a manner of their choosing) to select which of their citizens shall be terminated.

ii. The number of citizens a nation shall be permitted to terminate will not be fewer than 1/8, although if some nations choose to terminate more, that is acceptable if not encouraged.

iii. That each nation vote to declare the UN null and void so that the clear and ringing voice of the Federation of Joint Conglomerates shall be the ultimate authority.

I am sure that the members of the international community will see the obvious wisdom behind each of these suggestions and will zealously follow in compliance.

Thank you and God bless the almighty Dollar.

III is illegal due to game mechanics, the other two are perfectly legal and you can submit them - I'm thinking moral decency with strength strong.

In the FAQ, Max Berry actually splits the RL UN and the NSUN from being similar. Amongst everything else, he stated that "You can't just obey the resolutions you like and ignore the rest, like real nations do." Right there, the UN charter is void towards the NSUN.
