I want to propose that all goverments can work together so we could get out of our depedency of gas by researching new ways.

Sheesh, aside from "it has already been done", didn't we just outlaw all petrol products? Doesn't that kinda.......require that we get off the gas dependancy?
(sorry if this is a bit snippy, I'll go into more detail later)

Why don't you write a proposal on the topic? I'd be interested in supporting a well-written proposal.

Be careful to stay away from real life violations. There is no hurricane Katrina in nationstates. Just wanted to mention because that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw your thread title.

We have a gas crisis?
Yeah, we can't use it anymore. :p
Or at least we won't be able to after 10 years.

My nation's Mad Scientis...err Science Advisors are already working on a solution to the problem. Currently they have hit a snag with some early safety testing. Seems we need more convicts as research subjects. Between the space program, the teleportation/dematerialization device, cold fusion research, death ray research and now this, we have too many conflicting needs. I guess the Emperor will have to step in. "Sigh!"

If there is a gas crisis then I believe that you should be sympathetic towards my nation. Send me all your gas. Seeing that I am an evil dictatorship that is being oppressed by the United Nations, I need all the help I can get.

The Pure Socialist Holy Empire uses Ethanol and Hydrogen to run our vehicles.
Frankly, petroleum fuels could be (almost) outmoded within the next 10 or 20 years if more nations would begin to develop bio fuels. IRL, I've driven diesel trucks and gas trucks that ran entirely on fuel produced from corn, soy and potatos. You can also modify (much easier to do with pre-1972 engines) a gasoline engine to run entirely on WOOD SMOKE -- the Brits did so during WW ll, and Mother Earth News repeated it in the early 70s.
A complete ban on petroleum fuels is ludicrous (and impractical) in the near future, but market forces will force nations to seek replacements and improvements.
