How long does it take to become a UN member and do old laws aplly to me when I join?

Hrm. I would say this belongs in Technical.
It takes 24 hours, during which time the magical Mods do their arcane chants, deific sorceries, and necromantic rituals to determine whether or not you are one they wish to allow in. Once the standard fourty human sacrifices are made and Azrael sends them down his approval or denial, they send out an email with the necessary information.
And, all passed laws apply immediately upon joining.
