UN Gnomes

I asked this on UNOG and the response was pretty much "ask Hack". I'm wondering just how define UN Gnomes are - aside from the general knowledge that they change our laws automatically as a part of the compliance ministry, what has actually been defined about them? Has a how been made? Has there actually been any data produced about them?

They don't automatically change our laws as part of a compliance ministry.

A UN Compliance Ministry sends an automated telegram to my nation's Office of International Affairs. The responsibility for changing my government's laws still remains with the Council of Mayors. It just so happens though that the public media in Mikitivity also follows the debates in the UN (only the main points) and public opinion tends to move in the direction of international opinion.

OOC:
I wouldn't assume that just because one player wants to claim that the UN writes their laws as part of their make-believe that the rest of us do. Both ways are equally valid according to numerous moderation decisions regarding __roleplaying__. My roleplay has never assumed that the UN has a golden key to my nation, because I can come and go as I please. :) We all can!

The UN Gnomes are just a puppet created by the Most Glorious Hack, who is one of the most active game moderators in the UN forums. He certainly is responsible for removing a large number of dude proposals *and* gives plenty of great advice to players who ask him (or his puppets) for help. "Gnomes" is probably a reference to the "Gnomes of Zurich" ... i.e. the hidden faces of the bankers that aren't directly involved in many international transactions, but are always rumoured to behind a great deal of the world economy. Swiss bankers really have a horrible international reputation for not really being seen in public. Hack takes a very light public touch on working with the UN, meaning he really doesn't rub it in people's faces that his job *is* to clean the proposal queue and ensure that the UN runs fairly smoothly in NationStates. He most certainly isn't like the "Gnomes of Zurich" in that he actually does make most of his decisions in public view on IRC, but he adopted the monkier to indicate he was doing "dirty work".

It is possible he lifted the nick from Steve Jackson's game ... but only Hack can tell us. :)
