First, before I begin, the article I am critiquing:

Complete Military Disarmament
A resolution to slash worldwide military spending.

Category: Global Disarmament
Strength: Significant
Proposed by: Weird Isle

Description: As transportation and information technology has evolved, the problem of scarce resources; the primary reason for wars throughout history is diminishing. There is no longer a reason for war, other than the politics of corrupt nations.

Although it is true that only UN member nations must abide by UN rules, and that by disarming ourselves while being outnumbered by non-member nations we are vulnerable to military attacks, we must also take note the fact that the UN Member to non-member nations is roughly the same size among the developed and powerful nations.

Recognizing the primary reason and means to wage wars is resources, members of the UN may protect eachother from hostile nations through complete trade embargoes against them and their supporters, creating economical disaasters and beyond to the aggressors. Through the use of this tactic we can protect our interests while advocating for Human Rights effectively by example by avoiding deaths of innocent men, civilian or military.

This resolution will dissolve all military institutions while eliminating all lethal weapons and the factories to produce them, with the exception of any variations of pistols, rifles, shotguns, and bombs for law enforcement and private use such as self protection and construction. Rifles and Bombs with extensive firing range and lethal* blast radius beyond what is necessary for their intended use (to be defined by experts in the area) are banned to prevent military application.

*Recognizing that some bombs are non-demolition purposes and some bombs breaks up materials through non-explosive means.

Approvals: 11 (Crusaders Kingdom, Peace love and spatula, Gaiah, WZ Forums, Musashi Islands, Elika, Laurinians, Aquarian Arcadia, Absolutely Anywhere, Elghinn, New Westralia)

Status: Lacking Support (requires 120 more approvals)

Now, my critique.

I would check this in the International Incidents and NationStates forums to make sure it is accurate.

Although it is true that only UN member nations must abide by UN rules, and that by disarming ourselves while being outnumbered by non-member nations we are vulnerable to military attacks, we must also take note the fact that the UN Member to non-member nations is roughly the same size among the developed and powerful nations.

Yes, but population size does not mean that much if you do not have the sufficient military to protect it when you are invaded. Unless, of course, you have another way to discourage attacks.

I would check in the forums I mentioned above to make sure this tactic is actually feasible.

This resolution will dissolve all military institutions while eliminating all lethal weapons and the factories to produce them, with the exception of any variations of pistols, rifles, shotguns, and bombs for law enforcement and private use such as self protection and construction. Hmm. I like. It gets the job done.

I have questioned certain portions of this because they are areas I feel needs research and testing. They may be completely effective. Or they may be worthless. Either way, it's better to check and make sure.

You do realize that you forgot to mention that this is actually illegal, as banning all lethal weapons would include nuclear weapons which UN nation's rights to possess are protected under UN Reaolution #109 Nuclear Armaments.

I think she was more concerned with the practicality and logic behind it rather than its legality and ways to repair it for it to be useful for the UN.
