Code change proposel

Advanced notice,

I've got no idea how the rules and regulations work in these forums, and as NS isn't exactly one of those things I like to spend more then twenty minutes on every couple of days, it's not exactly high on the list of priorities right now.

Proposel,

Add an 'Amendment' option for UN Resolutions. The current proposel demostrates nicely how this would be a time saving option, in a way. My thought is since a repeal would take out a good resolution, and a new one would have to be put up to take its place, this feature could make it easier for proposals to go through.

Just a thought. And yes, I know, this is probably not the right place for it, but in my mind a section on the UN would be a good place to put something about UN.

The words "Game mechanics" and "illegal" come to mind. In this case, you want the technical forum for this. With NS2 in the future, don't expect it to happen.

This is something that has been suggested a million times before. If it was going to be done, it would have been done either during the move to Jolt, or during the coding of the repeal function. As it wasn't, it is highly unlikely to be done.

In any case, Technical would definitely be the correct location for this.

this is why we have write the following suggestion on the technical forum:

the opportunity is that nations will be allowed to submit the repeal first and then the "new proposition", the same day (even if the "new proposition" is a violation)

=> Advantages:

- every delegate will approve or not the repeal, and every nation will vote FOR, AGAINST or Abstain the repeal, with full knowledge of the text of the "new proposition"

- the author will have only 1 joint TG campaign to do

- no more sterile legal debate about repeal/replace

- if the repeal reach quorum, but the "new proposition" doesn't, the author will have the possibility to ask mods to delete the repeal

- no modification of the code or the game is needed, it's just a rule; there is only 1 thing mods will have to do: they should delete the "new proposition" if the repeal doesn't reach quorum or fail

We think it will be an important step towards the Furtherment of democracy in the UN body

I do smile at the use of the word 'illegal' in this forum. Afterall, anyone been arrested yet?

Yes. However, since it was their first time, they got off with a two-hour beating and their house being burned down.

Let's call such 'innappropriate' for UN resolutions, or 'against the rules,' since it's a game mechanic question.

'Illegal' would be a violation of domestic or international law or treaty, not a violation of game rules.

Verily I say unto thee,

"The words "Game mechanics" and "illegal" come to mind. In this case, you want the technical forum for this. With NS2 in the future, don't expect it to happen."

Yeah, whoops, should have noticed that sooner, oh well. As this page hasn't been moved, and my 'house' is still standing without a scratch on me, I'm going to say that where this is isn't a major problem. Nice name, too. Knew someone named Lilith when she was on the Space forums. Intellectual discourse the differences between '-------' (four letter word ending in 'ing' [if this annoys people, boo hoo, I'm in strong opposition to swearing in public]) and 'love.'

To the user Enn, thanks for letting me know. And, umm, hate to be a 'tard, but wasn't NS2 supposed to be hear in 2004? To me, saying that it's 'in the future,' holds about the same strength as saying a movie on a book is a 'Major Motion Picture.' I'm not referring to Jennifer Government either, that's a reference to a book written in the 1980s.

As for doing illegal stuff, I once got into a heap load of trouble, by proxy, for supporting a UN resolution. Thankfully its now an issue in the game. "Should there be brothels?" Why of course, supported it once, didn't I? (That's a yes.)

Finally, if it is too much of a problem being here, just have one of the people with enough moderator power to move it into the proper area. With as large as Nation States is, there's got to be plenty of mods. Hell, my main forum parsing area is twentieth the size of NS, and they've got about a half dozen active mods.

NS2? I wasn't the one to bring that up. I haven't got the foggiest idea of when that's meant to happen - check the actual NS2 forum for any news on that front.

There are a fair number of mods, but something like this probably wouldn't be moved unless someone specifically requests it. Easier to just start a new topic in Technical.

Make a thread about it in Technical. Don't submit it as a proposal - it will be deleted as a games mechanics violation, and will get you a warning.

Enn,

Meh, all you characters look the same. Checked the NS2 forum area not to long ago, still the same as it ever was from the looks of it.
