Support for the Soveriegnty of Nation States

Many of the existing UN resolutions greatly attack the soveriegnty of nation states. Observe the definition of a nation state:

"A nation-state is a specific form of state, which exists to provide a sovereign territory for a particular nation, and derives its legitimacy from that function. In the ideal model of the nation-state, the population consists of the nation and only of the nation: the state not only houses it, but protects it and its national identity."
- from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_state

Observe the UN's charter: http://www.un.org/aboutun/charter/index.html

The UN is about solving global differences and uniting the world. It is *not* a forum to force all nation states to be identical. It is *not* a soveriegn govenment or a world government.

To this end, the Dominion of the Machine Spirit will be putting forth a series of repeals of resolutions that threaten basic national soveriegnty. I recommend that any delegate that strongly believes in protecting the rights and character of individual nation states approve these repeals so they may be voted on.

The Dominion of the Machine Spirit thanks you for your time.

We applaud the esteemed delegate from The Machine Spirit for their principled stand in defence of NationStates' sovereign rights and agree with their concern that recent NSUN proposals have shown disrespect for them. We await a list of those resolutions TMS feels should be repealed.

This is not reality. The real UN charter has no bearing on the NSUN. The purpose of the NSUN is whatever its members make it - we are free to choose to infringe on or respect national sovereignty. If you would like to argue a case as to why you believe the UN should focus on solely international issues, please go ahead. But don't tell us that we must, simply because that's what the real UN is for.

I agree with Myopia. The real UN has no bearing on the functions of the NSUN.

However, I agree very strongly is an important principle. Perhaps you should investigate the National Sovereignty Organization (s11.invisionfree.com/NatSovOrg/index.php?act=idx)?

This is a worthy task and one that I would lend my full support to. I have long tried to stand up for national soverignty. However, I must point out that only a few weeks ago, The Protection of Dolphins Act was up for repeal, but failed. I strongly supported the repeal of this and was sad to see it fail. Hopefully, you have more sucess in your efforts.

You took the words right out of my mouth on this one.
