Proposal: Legalize Cannabis

We UN nations hold dearly the right for the individual to choose. Part of an individuals right to choose is to choose what they want to put into their bodies. Not only is not legalizing, at least cannabis, agianst human rights itself, it goes against the basic beleifs of each one of your nations, as proven through the countless number of human rights bills and bills promoting a person's right to choose.

Cannabis is in no way an addicting drug physically. Mentally it can be somewhat addictive. This bill will further enact stricter laws against selling to minors. It will also enact treatment centers in order that people mentally dependent of the drug will be able to seek the help they need.

1. Stricter laws for selling, giving, or consuming in the presence of a minor.
A. 40-50 year sentences for those cuaght doing any of the above acts.
2. The establishing of businesses that sell and allow consumption inside their foundations (like bars). Public consumption will result in a fine.
A. The above stated due to the fact that second hand smoke may inhibit a person, not wishing to be inhibited, unknowingly.
3. Know establishment for the consumption of Cannabis is allowed within 5 miles of any school grounds.
A. Inlcuding public schools, private schools, day cares, and pre-schools.
4. The enactment of stronger ant-drug programs in schools.
A. Starting at grade 7+.
5. Age limit of 21 years old.
A. Heavy fines for people caught consuming under the age limit.

Summary: In legalizing this drug we will also enact many programs to try to persuade our nations' future leaders to not use this drug. This drug is FOR PRIVATE USE ONLY! Public use will result in a heavy fine.

This bill will not promote the use of this drug. It merely give people the option. In legalizing the drug, the author of this bill wishes to stop those people who use the drug soley because it is illegal from using it.

It is our citizens' right to choose. This will cut down in tax dollars spent towards holding people convicted of possession and similar crimes (not including the above stated in the list).

Give your citizens the right to choose!

That's... quite draconian.

Won't this make cannabis more public. If you want it to be a private thing it should be in people's homes. Also, these places might not exactly help the prevention of minors wanting to smoke cannabis. It will show them that there are lots of people who do it and then they might get the wrong ideas.

Cannabis can not be legalized in any way whatsoever. Hemp yields the strongest natural fiber in the world, and that fiber is better than almost all synthetics. This will devastate the international economy. Every petrochemical and cotton textile industry worldwide depends on weak, short-lived fibers in order to stay in business without heavily multiplying the price of their goods. Most companies of this industry will either have to raise their prices to overcome the lack of sales [due to goods not falling apart / tearing] or else they'll go out of business in less than 5 years. Not even the communist slave labor facilities will be able to survive this powerful of a blow.

Next, petroleum itself will be jeapordized. Hemp oil is a renewable resource semi-comparable in energy production per gallon to that of crude, so crude oil will be used less, and therefore cost less, destroying most of those companies as well. This could also lead to unapproved independance from "energy companies."

Thirdly, Cannabis is the most useful medical plant in the history of the world. It can be used to treat over 150 forms of illnesses and cancers effectively, and is less toxic than water, having never killed a single person in 6000 years of recorded history. This would be bad. The drug industries would all immediately collapse, as well as a reduction in necessary Eugenics. Worst of all is that this plant can grow in almost any climate, so the problem of unapproved independance from "drug companies" would become a serious reality.

Last but not least, this would lead to mass increase of spiritual awareness. This sounds harmless, but it is actually very bad, as people may discover the meaning of life and become unwilling to fight in violent wars any longer.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Cannibus is a rapper who, despite all these effects, remains legal. Sorry.

Not as long as the USA is running into the countries that legalize Cannabis, and making war with their governments for the sole purpose of legalizing it. This occurs with other drugs too, and more commonly. Of course, you don't see those stories on the 6:00 news, but they've put more troops into the drug war than most people want to know about, and their international "war on drugs" has had more funding that most of the wars of their history.

You're right, I don't see any of those stories on the 6:00 news. That's Simpsons time.

Much more educational.

Cannabis relieves pain....Tylenol relieves pain...the only difference is that tylenol is legal....

at certain amounts, tylenol can hinder a persons motion and reaction time...and it is an artificial product.

Cannabis is 100% natural. Grown from the ground. It has the same effect as high doses of Tylenol...So why isnt it legal as well. Both can cause over doses, both relieve pain, just one is built and is part of the drug industry with which the United States wishes to promote and to basically price guage its citizens.

I would much rather put something natural into my body that I know doesnt have 50,000 (over exaggeration of course) side effects.

And about your spiritual being and figuring out life...Why would it be bad if no one was willing to fight violent wars??? Peace and debate through words are the way to resolve conflicts, not sending countless number of men to be slaughtered or to slaughter.

it would be a contained enviroment...by public i meant no one could just walk the street smoking weed. it means that it would be enclosed like a bar and children would not be allowed in...

also note that i said these establishments will not be within 5 miles of any school.

In Bahgum we have never heard of this cannabis stuff. Bahgumians seem to prefer to illicitly chew on the tubers of the Bahgumian blue bogtrotter geranium. It has interesting effects: some mild euphoria, members of the opposite sex suddenly start to make perfect sense (incidentally, it is for this exact reason that the drug is banned, it was quickly found that this was a far more scary arrangement than the status quo) and a somewhat increased libido. However the after-effect of a blue frothing mouth and that the takers all seem to become self opinionated bores are worrying, although this, curiously does not seem to deter people.
Bahgum would be interested to know if other such substances exist in other nations

Nations should be able to retain the right to determine which drugs should be illegal and which not within their sovereign territory!!!
