What's with people thinking they should do a last minute post on the UN forums when their proposal is about to fail to reach quarom? Are you looking for advice for next round? I think the repeal is good enough for me to support, but I don't check the proposal list very often so.....I need a warning.

Two words:

There's another fairly successful repeal attempt of this resolution in the list right now (right after my own repeal ;)). I figure posting it here could help you in two ways: give you the names of 70 delegates almost 100% on supporting a repeal of this resolution, and maybe let you see another text, it's problems with the resolution.

I know first hand that this works. I started my attempts to repeal "Legalize Prostitution" a month or so before my actual submission, collecting delegate lists much like this one. When the composite came together after I'd collected about 20 repeal attempts I had about 130 delegates who had a history of supporting the repeal of "Legalize Prostitution". I telegrammed them first, and added a campaign of a hundred or two more "cold calls" to cover the standard contingecies (such as delegate change, apathy, inactivity, and "change of mind").

Also, TilEnca's proposal (TilEnca was a great, kind forum regular "back in the day"--i.e. from 2004, earlier 2005) about genocide was running through the list for perhaps the second go around when I found a very similar "End Genocide" proposal in the list just above a test proposal of my own. The "End Genocide" proposal had about 80 delegate approvals. I gave those to TilEnca and that provided the base for his resubmission telegram campaign that eventually brought his proposal to quorum.

Anyway, here's the other repeal text and approvals.
Repeal "MANDATORY RECYCLING"
A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution

Category: Repeal
Resolution: #13
Proposed by: Jusma Kullailie

Description: UN Resolution #13: MANDATORY RECYCLING (Category: Environmental; Industry Affected: All Businesses) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: ARGUEMENT: Honourable Delegates and Member Nations of the UN, we feel that resolution #13 is flawed insofar as the scope of what it mandates recycling for is too limited. Hence we propose the following to repeal resolution #13 - "MANDATORY RECYCLING".

NOTING: That UN resolution 13 - "MANDATORY RECYCLING" lacks scope in achieving its desired goals in the present and future generations. In a literal sense, its statement calls for recycling of paper, glass, aluminium and batteries ONLY.
This ignores other recyclable products or by-products that exists today and will exist in future, including but not limited to...
>> Tin and other recyclable metals
>> Cardboard boxes and other packing materials
>> Food, beverage and other plastic containers and other recyclable plastic items
>> Inkjet and Toner cartridges, Magnetic Reels, CD ROMs and other computer media
>> Monitors, computers and other electrical equipment

NOTING FURTHER: That due to these shortcomings, corporations have been found to, without breaching resolution 13, completely neglect ethical practice of recycling recyclable items not covered under resolution 13.

RECOGNIZING: "MANDATORY RECYCLING", proposed by Techno prisoners, as a precedent to improve world's environment.

RECOGNIZING FURTHER: The following major environmental problems on hand:
>> The rapid increase in industrial, bio and general waste in many member nations
>> The lack of space and efforts to dispose off the waste and the practice of dumping garbage in poor nations by other nations
>> The Lack of knowledge or efforts to recycle items those are recyclable at a reasonable cost, by some UN member nations

REPEALS: Resolution 13 - "MANDATORY RECYCLING", implemented: Thu May 8 2003, to make way for a resolution that addresses the above concerns.

Approvals: 70 (Pinkpumpkinia, Gunfreak, Love and esterel, Forgottenlands UN, The Unraveling, CTerryland, Aesies, Domocolees, Omigodtheykilledkenny, Velenora, The Philosophes, OBSA, NewTexas, Flowie, Freedom in Tibet, Yeldan UN Mission, Spikealation, Eve the First, Tsel, Richard2008, Cmabland, Calisan, Luna Amore, Elika, Mythila, Unsubstantiation, Venerable libertarians, Cape Porpoise4, Waterana, Sinsvyka, True-wisdom, Novaya Zemlaya, Xanthal, Zero infinity, Ophainia, Ghost_Goth, Liberialand, King Christophe, SouthFerns, Mikeswill, Birtan, Tbohner, Grande Comore, Scandinavian Duchies, New Javert, Hosepipes, Annexed Free States, Basilicata Potenza, BlueTiger, The Zeph, Darth Mall, Daibayashi, Mitchellina, Athens and Midlands, Guditushuz, New Roslovia, The Norlands, Navillus, Brocklandia, Lodisia, Cav, Clintoned, Jaffland, Inertialization, I Still Like Oranges, Dizziness, Tir, Traffic Lights 2, Zealotos, Kilmeston)

Heh, I feel dumb. I just realized these aren't the same repeal attempt.

Oh well, there are still advantages to posting it here. Now, for anyone who is trying to repeal "MANDATORY RECYCLING", there's a base of support. For two, delegates tend to approve based on overarching ideologies. When I was collecting delegates' names for the repeal of "Legalization of Prostitution", I also collected the approvals for repeals of "Gay Rights", "Definition of Marriage", and "Legalize Euthanasia". In the end, most of the delegates approving these types of repeals were the same, because they all fit into their respective ideological schema.

So, even if they are different repeal attempts, this could give us a good idea of those delegates that are, for lack of a better term, "anti-environment", which like it or not, you're going to need to get a repeal like this to quorum.
