Having only just got involved with NationStates and therfore only recently become a UN Delegate I do not think I have the experience necessary to draft an initial version of a full resolution myself, so I put this out for comment and expansion as I have not seen any mention of a proposed or passed resolution within the UN archives which covers this field.
I hereby propose that all UN members should legislate within their own nations to ensure that patents may not be grated on 'software' inventions. Such patents only serve to allow such large corporations as can afford to go through the process of applying for such a petent to swell their own coffers at the expense of the smaller innovator, thus stifling competition and in the end hurting the consumer. The UN and it's people would be better served without the ability to patent a simple 'concept' such as is embodied by the notion of software patents. Patents themselves are to be reserved for genuine innovations and used to allow the successful applicant to benefit from such an innovation as is their right.
