A suggestion here.. Don't try to ban one single weapon like this.. Also why should it be banned...
This is a rough idea only:
PROPASAL: Ban all light weapons capable of firing rounds over .22mm at a rate of over ten (10) rounds per fire period* (seconds*/minutes* whatever).
REASON: Many of these are being carried as hunting weapons when their only intended use is by the military or police to stop criminals or an enemy. Private Citizens are using them to kill small game that can be killed with a smaller round and doesn't need but one maybe two shoots to bring that game down. Thus overkill happens.
DEFINE: OVERKILL: You blow away your prey leaving little to nothing to eat or use... with a weapon to large... or that fires to many round to fast.. to leave any hope for the prey.. or part of it eatable or useable... to you...
DANGER: The use of these weapons in natural open hunting areas has resulted in deaths of more than just the game animals intended. A large number of hunters and others in these areas have been killed due to the improper use of heavier weapons and rapid fire weapons that are not needed nor intended to hunt those game legal to hunt.
SOLUTION: Ban these weapons as hunting weapons, but allow them for military and police use when they need the heavy round and rapid fire of these, as they were intended to be used. Also allow against an animal only when it's to large for a smaller weapon or several have formed to do harm to people.. even here the police or military should be called in not private citizens, they should be a last resort to protect lives and property before use of such is permitted. See under Ban..
BAN: Sale of these weapons to other than military or police units, placing heavy fines and/or prison time on those who might use them for other than their intent to kill ones declared enemy and blow hell out of his light tanks and other vehicles, planes, and boats. The police shall; in their duty to serve and protect citizens; on call use them on any large animal or group of animals attacking people..
HANG: All individuals, military, or police when they use these other than intended and kill a person or persons with them... After a trial to determine improper use resulted in the death..
You should get the idea... and I know others will comment on mine.....
Also note I said .22mm but you can set that where you might want it as well as the rate of fire... I just gave example...

I agree about not banning a specific gun, better a class of them. Remember some guidelines though. First make sure there is no and I mean no Civilian need for the weapon. Second make sure not to make to many resrictions on the caliber and availabliity of ammunition( Certian animals such as grizzlies and Kodiaks require large caliber rounds to go down, and for your onw citizens self protection make sure they have access to a caliber that stops attackers .357 Magnun does wonders). Personally I find these gun bans silly, after all, all you really need to do is enforce the laws on the books, not make new ones. But its your perogative so have at It.

Vener... I was just trying to be nice and help him..
Palen... In a way I didn't realy set any known cal.. .22cc is as big or small as one might want it in there nations... Just added that to make it almost real.. I can see point on no citizens but left the option for Citizens in reserve military in some nations that have some of their equipent at home... You know the idea a tank in the garage next to to the family car.. Didn't want them to have to leave them locked up some place far from where they might need them... fast.. for those dinosours... if the police are busy busting the ladies knitting club... and can't do it... Also this is not a real ban of them completely suppose to limit there use to killing say dinosours not rabbits, robbins, and other small game... thus by accident of other killing the people near them...
Now that look at this one need a Committee to set which weapons will/can be used to hunt what animals.. and set some standards.. to avoid overkill.. in hunting only... as this should not take from military weapons.. In otherwords we got Committee members with guns testing them to see if they safe to use on what animals.. Sounds like fun can I be on it.... I'll give up my seat on the Drug Committee that is getting ready to remove all illegal drugs from members... as soon as somebody proposes it again and it gets passed..

No problem Zeldon, I was just throwing out some additional talking points and other things to ponder. To me most of the gun bans seem to be poorly thought out and have consequences that bite a person on the ass later. But I still want to know what Itlian Alps' citizens are doing with Russian Anti Tank Rifles. Your right though a comittee looking into the matter sounds like fun. Hoorah! I love the smell of cordite in the morning! :sniper:

I've seen many reasons a nation may find individual citizens hold better weapons than the military.. We here refuse to let our National Security Agents enter the Public Scholist Society Arena or their co-foundation the PTA, to protect them as we are finding that members of the PSSA often have better weapons thus the NSA is outgunned and can't protect those they might be assigned to or themselves. Thus our President requires them to come see him and will not go talk with them in their universities or other places...

Well, when there is no military to speak of.....is it possible to be less armed than a packet of air? (well...perhaps clean air is slightly better....but still)

Oh - and again I iterate that I don't think you should've given up on your terrorism resolution so easily
