The repeal of the U.N. Protection of Dolphins Act has been submitted and is awaiting delegate approvals. If you are a delegate and opposed the Protection of Dolphins Act, or you know of a delegate who shares your view, please use this link (www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/78954/page=UN_proposal/start=10) for approval. (U.N. proposals are notorious for rapidly moving up the proposal list, so I will labor to update the link as time progresses.)

This repeal has been submitted because of my firm belief that national sovereignty should extend to commercial sovereignty, and the Protection of Dolphins Act hurts our national economies, primarily those that rely on the fishing and related industries.

The deadline is Sunday. Please help.WHEREAS, the U.N. Protection of Dolphins Act constitutes a grave encroachment on national sovereignty and the right of member states to regulate commerce within their own borders; and

WHEREAS, many member states' economies are heavily reliant on fishing and related industries, and this act severely damages their national economies; and

WHEREAS, it is decidedly outside the jurisdiction of the United Nations to place such precise restrictions on international trade and commerce; and

WHEREAS, dolphins are not an endangered species requiring special protection; and

WHEREAS, the sale and consumption of dolphin meat is prevalent in many cultures, and the Protection of Dolphins Act is culturally insensitive in that regard; and

WHEREAS, the Protection of Dolphins Act does little to advance the central purpose of the United Nations, namely, the promotion of human rights; and

WHEREAS, the provision in the Protection of Dolphins Act, calling specifically for the prevention of "dolphin abuse, in any way that (member states) see fit, provided that no dolphin shall ever be preferred over human lives," is insufficient for the protection of human lives and livelihood:

1. THE U.N. PROTECTION OF DOLPHINS ACT IS HEREBY REPEALED.

WHEREAS, the sale and consumption of dolphin meat is prevalent in many cultures, and the Protection of Dolphins Act is culturally insensitive in that regard...Since you consider us a food source, do you mind if we kill you and eat you, too?

Mind you, we would only permit this on the part of pods that consider the "sale and consumption" of human meat to be an important part of their "culture"...

It's ok to eat dolphins because they arnt made in God's image. People are made in God's image therefor they should not be eaten.

It's ok to eat dolphins because they arnt made in God's image. People are made in God's image therefor they should not be eaten. The only reason you believe that you are made in the image of God is because you can only concieve of God as a human being - Father Zeus on a heavenly throne.

Humans write human holy texts, and in them declare the human form to be divine. Uh, does anybody else see the conflict of interest here?

Shame on you, for your overweening pride. Shame.

Fortunately, we won't have to put up with you for a great deal longer; you'll be extinct and we'll be leaping over your graves.

And - BTW - we aren't expecting the U.N. to protect us: a human organisation limiting human behavior? Yeah, that's going to happen...

Go ahead and repeal your little Resolution. See if it really makes a difference.

Greetings.

We of Roathin are completely in favour of bloodthirsty dolphins, as stated previously in this forum. We are in particular appreciative of genus Orca. It is because we appreciate their sterling qualities and nobility of spirit and intellect that we wish the resolution to be repealed. Should a resolution to ban the killing of half-daemons be tabled, it would surely be as insulting to us as the ban on dolphin killing would be to a true dolphin. Why should a superior life-form require such a resolution?

Our office is persuaded to support a repeal of the resolution in question. Though our nation is entirely in favor of protecting the dolphins currently inhabiting a large tank of seawater at an underground facility in the Crazy Combustion Coasters amusement park, we now find that a resolution of this nature would have little desirable effect aside from the easement of our conscience.

Nonetheless, we wish to note that we appreciated the author of the resolution in question for their efforts in addressing the protection of dolphins as an international issue.

We agree with the repeal author on the basis of what we feel is the one important line distinguishing between dolphins and whales:

WHEREAS, dolphins are not an endangered species requiring special protection

I shall inform Gatesville of your valiant efforts in undoing this blunder, and will get my delegate to back your repeal.
