Digital Revolution Proposal

Just a little correction that may arise out of the confusion of there being two seperate Digital Revolution Proposals. The first one was a mistake on my part as it is under the Recreational Drug Use category. The second one is correct as it is meant to lift restrictions on free trade. So please discard the first Proposal and vote on the second one. Again my bad. Sorry for the confusion.

The Digital Revolution

A resolution to ban, legalize, or encourage recreational drugs.

Category: Recreational Drug Use

Decision: Legalize

Proposed by: Pascovia

Description: Realizing that television is based more on a digital system than on the traditional analog system.

Reminds this body that the majority of the world receives digital broadcasts.

Notes that today, analog signals on radio waves are so powerful that they can penetrate thick walls and that by using digital technology, will compress these signals so that they take up just a fraction of the same space.

Recommends that this free space be alloted to emergency services for use as wireless equipment for police, firefighters and medical providers.

Further recommends that the free space left over by analog technology be allowed on the marketplace for wireless and internet service sector use.

Calls upon the United Nations to adopt and enforce this legislation.
This is the version that is currently submitted. It's on the last page (16).

Does the majority of the world receive digital broadcasts? I'm not talking NS here, but RL. I know in Australia we're still nearly entirely on analogue, and I don't imagine the Third World using digital services.

I really doubt that the majority of the world does. Perhaps he meant access to a digital signal like in the form of satellite T.V.. I would assume that most of the (RL) world is still on analog.

Hell, most of America is probably still on analog.
