Don't Lete Democracy Die

Noticing that there is little to no backing of regions other than huge ones, I am asking for the backing of nations through endorcements in order to pass a repeal to the Gay Rights act that I find unfair because it tells countries how to run themselves rather than give them equal opportunity to choose their own laws. If any of you are interested in helping me please move to the region of Naruto and endorce the Republic of Nakamaru so that I can propose my repeal. Thank you so much for your help.

Regional advertising is only allowed within the Gameplay Forum and (AFAIK) the Pacifics. Not the UN.

I don't mean to be rude here, but it seems that there are many nations trying to pass resolutions like this, using as a justification 'The UN infringes on our sovereign rights to govern'. Yes, that's the point. But you don't HAVE to be a UN member - if you aren't happy with UN resolutions, just leave!

I'm sorry, but Resolution 43 clearly states that Democracy has a right to end its life with dignity, should it so choose.

Well, perhaps while we're at it, we should repeal all UN proposals that protect human rights.
If you object to the UN protecting homosexuals, perhaps you'd be happier as a rogue nation so you can send them off to camps- oppress your people in style!

Nevermoore thinks it is in your best interests to follow Our... I mean the U.N.'s ideals. Treat your people with equality and live in the peace of the U.N. or discriminate against certain factions and risk standing alone as a rogue nation. Of course then you can build biological weapons to use on the gay people! Hmm, it might serve you better to leave.

The Constitutional Republic of Tekania does not care much for Democracy. Let it die...

Being a Constitutional Republic; we are far more fair and libertine; than a Democracy could ever hope to be....

Tyrany is evil; regardless if it is tyrany commited by a democratic body of a majority; or by an autocratic ruler...

I am glad to see consensus that all who disagree in the UN should be forced out. Way to end tyranny, ladies and gentlemen. I know it says in the FAQ that all resolutions must be held sacred by UN members on face of being verbally harassed.

By the way, Nevermore maybe fellow UN members should follow your lead and outlaw political freedoms. Krioval keep arresting citizens "in queues for 'loitering'". And I know its about time we stand up against the right wing dingbats who aren't rightfully pushing pro-nudity legislation.

Hey, I think n00bs posting can be a hassle, but don't hound them. Its their thoughts, their beliefs... Its their mistake at posting here. What purpose does it make to bash them? Oh yes, it makes them feel like crap and stop playing. Again, way to go.

Sarcodina, there is no consensus. I would point out that those who posted with the 'obey or leave!' mentality are far from being regulars on the forum. My original post was about the proper location of such a topic (regional advertising is meant to be in the Gameplay forum), while Krioval's post was a witty aside, and Tekania's wS about the nature of tyranny and democracy.

Representative of Sarcodina, I think you might not want to go head-to-head with my nation in terms of civil rights. You have "some", while Krioval has "superb" standards. Granted, your people may have more (corrupt) elections than do we, but ultimately it's Krioval that manages to protect people's rights more strongly than Sarcodina.

Also, I'm appalled that torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals in Sarcodina! And yet my government's commitment to civil rights is being called into question? For shame.

Whatever, Krioval. I just don't like people to bash n00bs. Its bad for the game. I have great respect for Chaotica and its fine Delegate. Obviously most note that what explains your nation can be "overdone" (understatement)...but to each his own.

Agreed.

When half a dozen regulars or semi-regulars drop in on every new proposal from a single-digit poster and shred him from top to bottom, it pretty much destroys any chance that the newbie would like to hang around and learn anything. The very few who are strong enough to withstand the initial barrage are more inclined to join the Bash Brigade than to encourage new members to learn about the consensus necessary to work with international law.

We all complain about the quality of proposals. We have here in the UN forum a place to teach, enhance, improve, and instruct. Driving off our student base may give momentary satisfaction to the few bullies, but it isn't good for the game.

I must have missed the memo where posting a single-line (albeit snarky) comment constituted n00b-bashing. I mean, the n00b-bashing accusations must be relevant or they wouldn't have been mentioned, right?

I agree, political freedom is quite useless indeed. Why, my people have lived in prosperity for centuries! I know what is best for them, I give them plenty of civil rights, they can buy whatever they wish. I protect them, why elect someone who will only be concerned about the next few years when I am concerned about Nevermoore forever? And I'll have you know that we have quite the liberal attitude on public nudity. =P

And I never bashed anyone, just telling them they'd be happier outside of the UN, since I've failed to see it move in more than one direction since I've joined.

The UN is allowed to do this. When you join the UN you give the right to run your country contrary to the current UN resolutions.

Thank you

For the record, I was not in the UN when this resolution was passed

Dear sir, you are indeed correct that the UN is allowed to make laws that interfere in the domestic policy of member nations. The UN is allowed to do this for two reasons:

1. It has the power to do so.

2. The membership votes FOR this interference.

Were one of those factors to change, it is possible that the UN would no longer be allowed to do so in a particular case.
