Repeal "National Systems of Tax"

A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution

Category: Repeal

Resolution: #105

Proposed by: Merede Pickers

Description: UN Resolution #105: National Systems of Tax (Category: Social Justice; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

Argument: Though the passage of this bill would be thought of as democratic, let it be known that out of 14322 member states voted for resolution with a mandate of 700 members. This vot still shows that almost another 7000 objected to this request. Why should we repeal this act you may ask?

We As a United Nations must act not as a tyranny of the majority over the minorty and listen to the wills of peoples who have been so silenced by bullies and OVERCAPITALIZATION.Even though this grand idea would be a small privilage amoung the classes of the poorly taxed it takes away the sovergnty of nations to tax as they wish without UN Sanction creating undue harm to many of our already burdened socities' tax bases.

This has minimum effect while effectivly stiffeling democracy in many member states who do not have working democratic instiutions as it is. Although We as The Jingoistic States of Merede Pickers do support a tax system which is fair in balenced it is up to memeber states to rationalize what is fair and what is not.

This does not encourage a fair taxing system.

It does not give the right for a member nation to do however it wishes.

Morality as the resolution requests is relitive to that culture we cannot judge other cultures by tabbos which are in our own less we be ethnocentric and petty.

This request for Repeal merely asks that a law which is already ineffective and uninforcible be removed for such a time in which such other more valued resolutions come upon this most honorable body.

Y'know, you could have ASKED us before submitting this. Many of us have been trying to submit or at least campaign for the repeal. Undercutting us is not a good thing.

I do support this (as my previous arguments clearly state), but you really should have gone about this in a more diplomatic way.

Tyranny by majority? The U.N.? Of course we are!

You shouldn't try to sway people to your side by the "This was close" argument, although many repeals have used keywords such as "noting" to bring passing mention to it. The fact is that the U.N. does in fact run on a majority rules system with only a few minor checks. This generally works out for the best, seeing as any resolution strong enough to pass has to convince over 50 percent of a VERY diverse population of nations. And since the U.N. is a participatory democracy, it's not tyranny either - if you really hate the detriments so much, you can leave the benefits and the detriments at the door and go off on your own.

So, focus your argument not on "This is undemocratic" as much as "This resolution is bad, here's why". Just a suggestion.

Your repeal motion states that you oppose National Systems of Tax because "it takes away the sovergnty of nations to tax as they wish without UN Sanction creating undue harm to many of our already burdened socities' tax bases" and states that "it is up to memeber states to rationalize what is fair and what is not". It sounds like you are in agreement with what National Systems of Tax actually does, which is to prevent the UN from dealing with taxes. As an anti-sovereigntist, I support repealing National Systems of Tax. However, I cannot support this proposal to do so.
