Underwater Exploration

DEFINING underwater exploration as the act of discovering new natural resources under any body of water,

AWARE of the many natural resources that exist under many bodies of water,

CONFIDENT that if natural resources are found, the fund generated could be used to support and create new UN programs,

FEARFUL of short-term and long-term effects of the exploration of natural resources,

1. CALLS for the immediate exploration of natural resources, sponsored by the United Nations,

2. DECLARES that if any natural resources were found, they will be inspected by a team of scientists from the UN, whose goal will be to discover any short-term or long-term reasons not to drill for the resource,

3. DECIDES that if any significant short-term or long-term physical or mental disability would arise from drilling for new natural resources, the project will be abandoned and exploration would continue,

4. APPROVES of the UN deciding which programs will receive some or all of the funds generated from these explorations,

5. DECIDES to remain actively seized in the matter.

Comments welcome :)

What about privately-owned water sources, such as some lakes and oceans?

Hell no.

Funded scientists are like funded economists - they can find reasons for anything.

there are private lakes and oceans?

that flew over my head :headbang: i don't think we can have any private lakes or oceans with the resolutions that have been sent, but i could be wrong, I've only looked at them a couple of times...

reality check. Most scientists are already funded. Plus it won't matter if they find a hazardous spot to them or not, cause they'll get paid the same wage (beaurocracy at its best :) ) the last operative clause will make sure they are doing their jobs right, "DECIDES to remain activly seized in the matter." that means we get to see what they are doing. but i will clarify that in the next draft :D

In other words, you're paying the scientists to find something wrong. Reality check, people like licking the hand that feeds them, so they will find something wrong, even if it is more ridiculous then any proposal we've seen yet. Something akin to "movement of two grams of sand from here might eventually cause NSEarth to spin off it's axis via the butterfly effect".

Again - HELL No.

Unfortunate for feel that way, but i guess there's nothing i can say to change your mind

However, for those who are still deciding about this resolution, this sounds stupid to us, (see first quote) it will also sound stupid to the UN and, like the great UN we are, we will keep drilling if they find something this stupid to complain about :D and i have faith that they will find something this stupid. we will use the common sence we have and decide not to drill.

PS this resolution hasn't been sent in as a proposal. I thought it would need work (as all of you have demonstrated) and i hope to work out all the kinks ASAP comments always welcome on what i need to clarify, change, ect :D

Actually, you can, but the explanation is not something you wish this thread to be devoted to.
